Power beat Sundowns

Power Dynamos beat visiting Mamelodi Sundowns in their opening match of the four-club international friendly at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola today.

The see-saw battle had the crowd entertained before the two teams went 2-2 into the break.

Billy Mutale put Power ahead in the 7th minute but Wayne Arendse put Sundowns back into the game with the equaliser in the 10th minute.

Five minutes later, Power took the lead through Emmanuel Chimpinde but Zimbabwe striker Cuthbert Malajila levelled scores in the 39th minute.

Lime Hotspurs striker Kobe Chipeta who is on trials at Power sealed the win in the 86th.

However, things didn’t go the same way for Zesco United in the early kick off who stuttered to a 1-0 loss to DR Congo side Don Bosco.

An 88th minute own-goal by new defensive signing Bonwell Silengo handed Don Bosco a deserved win after seeing a goal disallowed and rattling the Zesco woodwork.

Silengo scored the own-goal after a poor back pass to goalkeeper Lameck Nyangu.

Action resumes on Wednesday when Power face Zesco in a 14h30 kickoff and Don Bosco take on Sundowns at 17h00.

  1. Gongrats Power 90 , it’s a pity my team Zescoro lost but all the same I ‘ll be a suppoter ! Good luck and keep going you are a supper team to reckon on Zambian super league.

  2. We lost that game because of Mweene. Mweene should have started on bench, and then play against Don Bosco. Its embarrassing for those Power players score past Mweene.

  3. I knew that We zambians now knows what it means by being chosen as football players. Felicitations to our Zambia national team nursery school.
