Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has rated their friendly against Nkana as the best game they have played so far in Zambia.
The South African club beat Nkana 1-0 in a friendly match played at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe on Thursday.
“You could see we were playing the champions of Zambia,” Mosimane said.
“You could see this is Champions League material. We wish them all the best they have a good team.”
Sundowns lone goal of the match came in the 45th minute through Mozambique winger Elias Pelembe.
Meanwhile, the friendly was also Nkana’s first match in 2014 as they prepare for their Samuel “Zoom” Ndhlovu Charity Shield semifinal on February 1 and 2014 CAF Champions League preliminary round first leg away match to Mbabane Swallows of Swaziland on February 9.
Good for Nkana to test their anticipation as they prepare to massacre a Swazi team next month
Bravo Kalampa for the good game.
“You could see we were playing the champions of Zambia,” Mosimane said.
But i was amazed by ZNBC reporting. In their news they said Nkanas preparations suffers setback after losing to Sundowns 1-0. But I was thinking a setback could be in terms of injury or loss of a player to another team. I think losing 1-0 in a friendly ( training ) match is understood. Such games are used by coaches to test their tactics and player combinations.
How we celebrate mediocrity in Zambia, buffs me. Nkana lost and that is a set back to their preparations for continental football and home league. Being second best or we played well despite a loss is mediocrity. Balilusa period.
Iwe!!! that was a training game and the Nkana coaching staff learnt something from that game. That’s why its a plus for Nkana and not a setback. Read this – “When you go into a game, you prepare to win but this game that we were playing was not about winning or losing it was about gauging our strengths and weakness before playing our serious games,” Mwale said.
Zesco’s display in Saturday’s match with Sundowns is what can be termed MEDIOCRE.
Why Ama jealous.
HAVE U HEARD? “You could see this is Champions League material. You could see we were playing the champions of Zambia,”
@ yakuna u are missing a point. Listen from our coach “When you go into a game, you prepare to win but this game that we were playing was not about winning or losing it was about gauging our strengths and weakness before playing our serious games,” Mwale said.
