Blackpool seek business partner

Mufulira council wants to partner with private individuals in running Division One North side Mufulira Blackpool.

Council director of finance Isaac Mwale says the local authority lacks the capacity to properly manage the legendary club.

Mwale cited financial constraint as one of the many challenges hampering the performance of Blackpool.

“We need the general public to support us, we are inviting everyone who is capable to come forward and work with the council to make sure this team goes to the premier league,” he said.

“In councils the issue of funds is always a challenge.”
Mwale said the Kamuchanga side does not deserve to be wallowing Division One.

“We wouldn’t want Blackpool to continue being in Division One, this is a premier league club and it belongs to that league,” he added.

Last season, Blackpool missed out on the two-team promotion list after finishing 5th on the Division One North table.

Meanwhile, the club is this Saturday set to elect a new executive at its AGM.

Blackpool have not played in the Super Division since the 1999 season.

  2. Great team of the 70s which gave us Simon Kaodi Kaushi and Alex Chola along with his young brother Pascal Kunda.

  3. Indeed I remember when Alex ‘Computer’ Chola crossed over and how seismic this move was in 1979. That was skill at its best that I shall live to remember. Sadly taken in that Gabonese disaster.

    • Football now dead in Mufulira. What is there is rich history about football. Shinde stadium is even dilapidated too bad…………..

  4. Let’s not forget that this is the team that first introduced Kalusha and his brother Benjamin Bwalya to competitive football. And by the way Blackpool proved a fiercest competitor of mighty Mufulira Wanderers in local derb the matches between them usually resulted in fans’ fights. Looking back, those were good times. Yes, any effort to save Blackpool along with Wanderers from extinction will also be kind to our football history.

  5. blackpool and the council are broke!!! when FTJ decided to sell council houses for K10 each , you all rejoiced (due to short-sightedness) and scrambled to buy this property. that was the only reasonable source of income for councils in the country. a person in the right state of mind cannot sell a property for K10.

  6. VERY POOR COUNTRY, EVER ASKING FOR HELP, WHERE DO YOU TAKE YOUR MONEY? U ASK NKONGOLE FOR ROADS, WATER SUPPLY, STADIA,RAILWAYS, NOW SOCCER CLUBS, SO SIMUMVELA NSONI KUPEMPHA PEMPHA? A VERY BACKWARD COUNTRY
