Catharine Phiri knocked Pia Mazelanik in the third round to win the vacant WBC silver bantamweight title at Government Complex in Lusaka.
Both fighters started off on a cautious note in the first round with little to divide the two boxers.
Catherine stepped up a gear in the second round as Pia struggled went on the defensive.
Pia was then floored three times in the third round in which the German first given an eight count, was given a time out the second time by referee Nelson Sapi she went down.
But just 30 second later she went down again but this time referee Sapi called an end to the bout.
Catherine is now unbeaten in eight successive after producing her fourth pro career knock out.

What was the story, ati Pia ba mutokola by Katalina Phiri? That girls start to scare me off, I hope she be much better than that Ester Phiri, who was promised a pregnancy, but Nsanda failed again. Nsanda get knocked out in 2nd round by Ester, amafumo ni mu 4th round.

I have come across people who do not appreciate boxing. No amount of explaining will convince them that this is a sport and if they had their way, they would have it banned. However, banning this sport would only push it underground as people have been entertained by boxing from time immemorial. In Monze, there is even a day [on boxing day I think] when anyone who thinks he knows his stuff is free to participate at a specially set arena at the main market! Its the skills that the boxers display that gravitate people to the sport.
