Vice president Guy Scott has refuted assertions suggesting that the Patriotic Front (PF) government has ignored the funeral of the late Litunga’s wife Mulako who was the Queen of the Barotse Royal Establishment.

Dr. Scott has said that , contrary to some reports, his office for example is working hand in hand with the Barotse Royal Establishment to make arrangements for the late Litunga’s wife’s funeral and that government does not expect any hiccups.

Dr. Scott has disclosed to Qfm news in a telephone interview this morning that among other things that government has organized resources for is her coffin, aircrafts to be used today and that the Zambia National Service (ZNS) and the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) are working on the burial site of the late Litunga’s wife.

The Vice president said that others working on the burial site include the Mongu Local Authority as well as the provincial administration.

He said that this is why assertions that the PF government and President Michael Sata in particular have ignored the funeral of the late Litunga’s wife are complete falsehood.

And Dr. Scott has urged Media Houses in the country to avoid basing their queries for him to respond to on reports being published by anonymous media institutions that are allegedly bent on causing embarrassment to individuals.

He said that the media should base their queries on facts that they themselves have investigated.

  1. It’s okay, we shall mourn our Queen Mother and whether PF likes it or not. MHSRIP. Tukongote Litunga Ni Lyetu.

    • Scotty is a Fixer in PF, image builder to be specific, did you study public relations by the way? I bet you had been in the wrong field of Agriculture wasted years, I should say pf has revived your natural born talent. Now I understand why you are the VP, some how you remind me of Joel Bidden, Remember that instance he really tossed around the repumlican VP candidate during the debate? Joel Bidden went to the rescue, same as Scotty… always to the rescue!

    • @Cindy Mulamu, with all the admiration on you, and smartness, I could like to affirm in agreement by making few details:
      – He is JOE (Joseph) Biden, no L and just one D. I know it because he is my favorite.
      – And the US’s PF is called REPUBLICAN
      – Guy Scott don’t make too important by adding a Y.

      XOXOXOXOXOX

  2. Guy Scott you can’t be saving face of Sata everyday. The funeral of wife of Litunga is not a DISASTER, so why are the DMMU involved. Your department of disaster should be working at State House right now.
This very important funeral belongs to Republic and Ministry of Chiefs. Unfortunately Sata can’t be involved because he has insulted those chiefs several times, he knows Sinyinda is among the organizers, he knows that Chitimukulu Sosala will be high profile mourner. Sata is a loner now.

    • Indeed Sata is a loner and confused character, imagine how can he send a disaster management team to a funeral not only a funeral but a royal funeral,,, thats disaster management team must be in solwezi were houses colapsed… or helping firebridgate water drying kapinga state house,,,
Sata must go to barosteland and tell lozis how much he loves them and how dearly he will miss their queen with them

    • Nostradamus and Ndobo,
I totally agree with you guys, Sata is a loser and loner, who thrives on borrowed money, time, so are the lies. Time of reckoning for him and PF for sure, shall come. There is nothing he can say concerning this funeral because his lies of 21st May, 2011, at Blue Gum, Barotseland, cheated his way through and now he is afraid of his own fears.
Mr Sata is now ashamed and embarrassed by his mediocrity, time has finally started catching up with him.
He can’t face the truth and people of Barotseland, I’m sure he now requires a passport to be in Barotseland. Lies are only so tally,

    • Ok. Let me understand. This is the wife of a late Litunga, right? She also died, right? So she is the late Litunga’s late wife, right?

  3. Opposition parties and some of you bloggers have run out of serious issues to attack pf and sata on. Funerals are family issues and as such are private matters. If others offer assistance its appreciated and you will not hate the ones who don’t. The BRE is a wealthy entity by comparison and won’t be bothered so why are you wasting your time sulking over it? Concentrate on bread and butter issues, things that will employ our youths roaming our streets and not the perpetual lies and hatred on the WD site.

    • In a way, you are right Brenda. Lubosi Imwiko, the current Litunga is one of the wealthiest men in Zambia, so he should have no problem affording such expenses.

  4. Thanks, Zambian media, kudos. It is nice that the media is now in the forefront fighting for people’s rights. For those who may not be from the Royal Barotseland, the Litunga’s wife is like Queen Elizabeth’s husband. In short, she is co-head of state of the kingdom of Barotseland.

  5. LT, The Litunga of Barotseland has not died, it’s his wife… please correct your headline as it is very misleading.

  6. Phew! Going by the headline, for a moment I thought the Litunga passed away and I never heard about it, and that now the wife has died too.

    • My sentiments exactly at 3 above, Cactus. Matter of fact this explains why our reports seem to be giving us news that is different from what is actually on the ground. They are failing their commission.

    • That’s why we have to go back to aeiou to improve our English. Imagine if journalists can be so thick what of the pupils? Viva the new education system before we have two deaths in one.

  7. My condolences to Bo Lubosi Imwiko. As a commoner from Muchinga, I have no idea how best to convey my message and if anyone can please do so on my behalf.

I recall the forced closure at Unza in 1981 and acting on a tip I popped into the General Manager’s office at Tobacco Board of Zambia. After exchange of greetings and a brief chat, the GM summoned one of his surbodinates and I was quickly inducted into a job in the processing factory and boy what a fruitful three months I was to spend!

The GM at TBZ was later to be the Litunga. My sincere condolences once more to the rest of the family and clan.

  8. The Litunga is a public figure in Zambia. As such a funeral at the palace cannot be treated as a private family affair. I think the PF Government did not handle this one expertly.

I also appreciate that the VP had to save face and an apologise would have equally been inappropriate. Perhaps the Inete could help in this matter by issuing a concilliatory public statement later. I have no doubt about the capacity of the BRE when it comes to matters of etiquette.

We mourn with you Bulozi and beyond.

  9. ITS VERY STARNGE THAT “BAROTSE GOVERNMENT ” want help from ZAMBIA without following procedures. Yes we do sympathise that THEIR FIRST LADY PASSED ON MHSRIP but to ask for resources from Zambia including coffin is very strange. How will such a poor country survive

  10. @ Anyoko what ever yu call yoself. No one in Barotseland had asked help frm anyone or frm any country. The fact is whn some one dies its normal for a normal person to show remorse or even to help. Barotseland for your own information is more organised than this PF government. They can source money any where infact I belive they hv more more may be even more than the central gvmnt. It is a concern about the behaviour of certain uncultured pipo that brought this toks. Leave us. We ar stil mourning.
