Movement for Multiparty Democracy MMD national chairperson for women affairs Foustina Sinyangwe has called on women serving as ministers in the PF government to be above board and not give republican president Micheal Sata any reasons for firing them.

Ms Sinyangwe said the country already has few women serving as cabinet ministers hence for them to ensure that they perform their duties diligently without engaging into activities which would make them unpopular with the president.

She said it is always sad for the women folk whenever one of their own is fired as such dismissals derail the fight for equal representation in decision making positions in the country.

She said with the current cabinet comprising less than 11percent of women it is important that women who are fortunate enough to be in these positions are careful when dealing with issues because they are not as strong as men when it comes to defending themselves.

She also called on them to be shining examples to other women and inspire others to challenge for these positions saying those with the opportunity to serve as ministers should always remember that they represent all the women in the country therefore should conduct themselves as such.

“We know we are women and when we are given positions we should be diligent, transparent and always do the right thing. I believe that when you do the right thing you will be vindicated”.

And Ms Sinyangwe further noted that it is most unfortunate that men facing the same problems have continued in their positions when everyone should be treated equally.

“Its most unfortunate that you find that men have the same problems but are still working but if its a woman they are hounded out”. She said

Ms Sinyangwe was commenting on the firing of former Tourism Minister Sylvia Masebo who was fired on Thursday less than 10 days after another female deputy minister was fired.

    • There maybe underlying issues not made public. Say respect or lack of it thereof to the hiring authority. Just thinking aloud, do not shoot at me.

  1. Just in case we forget how bad MMD could be, here comes their “gender expert” to advise women they need to be extra careful to bow down and happy-clap their way around men.

Great…. never mind self-respect and equal treatment, better is to say women are not as strong. Right, madam? How inspirational, you are true beacon of leadership for young women and future generations of female leaders. Now please pass me a bucket!

  2. ITS GOOD PIECE OF ADVICE FROM MAMA SINYANGWE TO FELLOW WOMEN. ON A SAD NOTE ITS WOMEN TO BLAME THEMSELVES. LOOK AT THE CONDUCT OF HON MASEBO DURING THE TRIBUNAL SHE WAS ALL OVER GETTING AT EVERY ONES NECK AND GETTING EMOTIONAL FOR NOTHING. WHERE ON EARTH DO YOU IMPLICATE YOUR BOSS. THAT THE PRESIDENT TOLD ME TO FIRE TOP MANGEMENT AND DISSOLVE THE BOARD. ANYWAY THE PRESIDENT HAS SHOWN THAT THERE ARE SPECIAL COWS IN PF. MR PRESIDENT KEEP ON GETTING RID OF WRONG DOERS IN YOUR GOVT. ITS MORE LIKE ANIMAL FARM

  3. This is one of the most ridiculous statements I have heard over a period. The fact is that no woman ever chooses to give an excuse for being fired. That’s why it s called being fired. Sinyangwe s analysis is comparable to someone who tells people not to give an excuse for being involved is an accident. This is not like using a condom which you can exercise by choice, unless you are drunk. No one chooses to be at loggerheads with appointing authority. The nature of the work determines that case by case. So, Sinyangwe is seriously off the mark.

  4. Sinyangwe missed one point: What about women who betray their political organisations to be used by the government? she was in PF as an MP but later she and other rebel PF MPs turned against the PF and collected pieces of silver from the MMD government with intent to discredit their own party. What advice would she give to the treacherous MPs? Has she been rehabilitated? Please advise your women folks based on your own experience.
