Nkana jets into Tunisia

Nkana on Wednesday afternoon arrived in Tunisia for Sunday’s 2014 CAF Confederation Cup return leg of the pre-group stage against local side CA Bizertin.

The 37-member delegation led by FAZ Treasurer Kelvin Mutafu landed at Tunis Carthage International Airport around 13:50 local time after an 18-hour long journey from Ndola via Lusaka and Dubai.

Bizertin Secretary Lamjed Belkahia received Nkana at the airport before the delegation took an hour-long drive to the resort town of Bizerte where the team is camped.

Nkana are accommodated at Bizerte Resort Hotel after rejecting Hotel Corniche which was initially secured by the hosting club.

Mutafu slammed Hotel Corniche saying it was below the required standards.

“We can’t sleep here, this is a ramshackle,” he said, before Nkana officials secured Bizerta Resort Hotel.

Bizertin officials abandoned the Nkana delegation after the Zambian team rejected the hotel initially booked for them.

Meanwhile, the two teams are tied goalless from the first leg match played in Kitwe on Sunday.
The 16h00 kick off return match is scheduled for the 15 October International Stadium in Bizerte.
