Lubambo: Zambia U20 will qualify

Zambia Under-20 captain Lubambo Musonda says Zambia will qualify to the Senegal 2015 CAF Under-20 Youth Championship.

Zambia this weekend begins their campaign for a place at next year’s Africa Youth Championship with a second round, first leg qualifying match against Mozambique in Maputo.

Musonda said Zambia wants to qualify to the Youth Africa Cup to compensate for the team’s failure at the 2013 Cosafa Cup Youth Championship in South Africa.

“Definitely we will qualify to the Africa championships because we know Zambia is a powerhouse in Southern Africa. We want to qualify the failure in the Cosafa Cup we want to make it,” said the talented winger.

Musonda said Zambia is confident of getting a good result in Mozambique this weekend.
The team leaves for Maputo on Thursday.

“We are all confident everyone is putting in their best in training. We are very confident of getting a good result. We watched them at the Cosafa Cup in Lesotho and they have a strong team,” Lubambo said.

Zambia last participated at the CAF Under-20 Youth Championship in 2007.
