The Grand Coalition on the Campaign for a People Driven Constitution has questioned the motive behind government’s decision to subject perceived contentious clauses in the draft constitution to a public discussion when the content of the final draft constitution are submissions from the people themselves.
Coalition Spokesperson, MacDonald Chipenzi says they do not understand why the Patriotic Front (PF) government wants to subject the contentious clauses to a public discussion when while in opposition the ruling party supported the Mung’omba document which had the same clauses.
Mr. Chipenzi said by subjecting all contentious clauses of the final draft constitution to a public discussion, the ruling PF is also being unfair and dishonest. He told QFM news that this is why the coalition suspects that this could also be a ploy by the PF government to manipulate the contents of the final draft constitution on the premise that people would have rejected the contentious clauses through a public discussion.
Mr. Chipenzi has however cautioned that this will not work because people have already spoken in view of the fact that the final draft constitution is a result of their submissions.
He said the grand coalition is ready to defend the submissions of the people in the final draft constitution when the public discussion on the contentious clauses is held and will not allow the manipulation of the contents of the final draft constitution.

But the fact still remains that with or without the contentious issue of 50%+1, the PF will not win in 2016. The cobra is not standing for presidency, so any one who stands on PF apart from the cobra can’t win an election on the pathetic family (pf) ticket.
