Zambia playmaker Rainford Kalaba says he cannot wait to play at Zambia’s new home ground at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.
Zambia will play their first game at the 60,000 capacity venue this Sunday when they host Sudan.
Kalaba including his TP Mazembe clubmates Jonas Sakuwaha, Given Singuluma and Kabaso Chongo all joined the team on Thursday night ahead of Zambia’s three international engagements starting with this Sunday’s friendly against Sudan.
“The idea is to play well against Sudan since it will be first game at the new stadium which is a beautiful one,” Kalaba said.
The arrival of the four players is a big boost for coach Honour Janza who was initially planning on featuring just his domestic-based players against Sudan.
The Mazembe quartet will be the only foreign-based contingent available for the friendly.
Zambia is using the game as buildup for their 2015 Africa Cup Group F qualifiers against Mozambique in Ndola September 6 and Cape Verde away on September 10.
