The MMD in Eastern has with immediate effect suspended Provincial Youth Chairperson Chembe Daka for openly urinating in the Chipata Municipal Council Chamber where vote counting for the Kasenengwa by-election was taking place.
In a letter of suspension signed by Provincial Information and Publicity Chairperson Samuel Phiri, made available to ZANIS, Mr Daka has been given 10 days in which to exculpate himself.
Mr Phiri described the action of Mr Daka to openly urinate in the council chamber as an embarrassment to the former ruling party which he said is tantamount to indiscipline.
He stated the MMD will not tolerate such behaviour from any of its members and advised all party members to exhibit good morals to the public.
Mr Daka is alleged to have urinated in the presence of election monitors and observers from various political parties, Non-Governmental Organizations and electoral officers in the council chamber last Friday when vote counting was taking place.
Mr Daka is alleged to have been in a drunken state when the embarrassing moment occurred.
During the reign of the MMD, particularly towards the time of RB’s tenure when corruption and arrogance became so rampant in the ruling party, I was one of the most vicious critics of anything MMD.
In the recent past, particularly when I see how Nevers Mumba has handled very difficult situations, such as the arrogance and the indiscipline of people like Kachingwe, Mulusa…etc, I realize that such characters would not have survived in a party like UPND or even PF. They would have been fired long time ago.
But look at the order of handling a cantakarous character such as this Chembe Daka. Sober minded and following the constitution. MMD your full story is yet to be told. Keep it up. We are watching.

What excitement the Kasenengwa victory must have brought the MMD! Urinating in public while counting votes? It was indeed a joyous moment!
I have heard about tears of joy before but certainly not urine of joy.
Shame indeed! He should just have been expelled straight away; because there is nothing to exculpate oneself from – anatunda, bonse nabazimayi banamuwona, nakuchita glance at his mbolo! Still drunk with the MMD power?

That mmd youth chairman is an embarrassment to his political party & the country at large, whether drunk or not. The police should have arrested the chap & charged him with indecent exposure. Politics of urinating !

He can exculpate himself, by saying he did not want to miss the count and announcement. He is a dedicated follower!
