Niger hold blanks-firing Zambia as Mozambique fire warning shots

Share

Zambia’s 2015 Africa Cup qualifying hopes continue to look very dim after drawing 0-0 away to Niger.

The result was a slight improvement for Zambia on the road after losing 2-1 away to Cape Verde on October 10.

However, the writing is now very clear on the wall: Zambia’s attack is aging and nearing its sell-by date.

Nkana striker Ronald Kampamba who had travelled with the team didn’t even make the 18 players selected for the game by Janza but Zanaco winger Charles Zulu made a surprise debut before making way for Emmanuel Mayuka in the 67th minute.

Despite the changes made by Janza’s to bench captain Christopher Katongo, James Chamanga who started the game failed to kill Niger before making way for Jacob Mulenga in the 83rd minute who did not also spark in his seven minutes of fame in Niamey.

Chamanga had two chances the first in the 10th minute when he missed Rainford Kalaba cross but four minutes later he sent Chisamba Lungu’s cross narrowly wide on the near post.

Zambia’s best chance came in the 53rd minute when Given Singuluma sneaked behind Niger’s defence but shockingly watched as the post conspired to deflect the ball back into play.

Goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene then reacted quickly in the 56th minute to clear a very poor back-pass from Christopher Munthali.

Meanwhile, third placed Zambia must now beat bottom placed Niger on Wednesday in Ndola with both sides tied on two points.

Another draw will not be enough on October 15 because Zambia are now three points behind second placed Mozambique who beat Cape Verde 2-0 in Maputo today.

Kito and Fiate’s goals in the 45th and 66th minutes were enough to give Mozambique their first win in Group F and hand Cape Verde their first loss in the qualifiers.

Mozambique are now the only unbeaten side in Group F on five points, one behind Cape Verde whom they visit on Wednesday in Praia.

    • Under PF and Kambwili, Zambia should forget wining any major championships again.

Right now ,they are playing the games knowing that they will no get paid on time after the game. They will have to wait for a month or two. If they get paid early, then it will be half . What a shame!

The year HH will take over the copper bullet boys will be happy and ready to deliver for they know they will be appreciated and paid their money on time.

Nothing seems to go right under PF

  1. When we tell you Zombies that; Zambia is going NOWHERE, its problems are not as easy as merely the aging players BUT the whole management and administration of the whole sport!!
    Wake up!!

  2. It is clear Janza doesn’t know what he is doing. Chamanga and singuluma should have been substituted by half time, they were a surplus!

  3. …on paper this was supposed to be the easiest group we have had in recent past….from start to finish , we were suppose to be on tops just waiting for to know the second team to join us in qualifying……
Its evident that we are playing names here as opposed to competence, fitness, intelligence and above all commitment…….
I expected Janza to better in the selection of players….
Some of those chaps, the glory for winning AFCON in 2012 has gotten in their heads…

  4. We were also unlucky; should have scored in the second half and also had a clear penalty which the referee ignored. We shall have to beat Cape Verde and Niger at home otherwise tachakawame.

  5. the team needs khodwani mtonga in mildfied, francis kasonde fr power dynamos, moses phiri, jackson mwanza, bonwell mwape, joseph sitali fr nkanda.

  6. This coach from SP doesn’t know what he is doing and if at all he knows what he is doing he certainly does not understand that what he is doing is wrong.

Anyway that is the best one will get under Kalu’s self appointed manager. In fact it will be better to allow Macambique and Cape Verde to represent this group.

  7. Please this is a joke to give Janza to couch the team , The guy can’t read the game because of pressure ,Chisamba is our Ronaldinio any thinking couch needs not to sub.Chris Katongo is old but because of experience and leadership to dictate brings fear for opponents and should be starting and to be substituted second half .Mukuka Mulenga distubs and mess up defenders and was need in this game that could ve be won by very big margin ,Bruce Musakanya is a play one could not leave on bench has abilities of making defenders not to overlap ,Fwayo is Clubless but could be the best behind strikers and best replacement for Katongo .I m not very comfortable with local couches coz there easely compromised

  8. Is this Chipolopolo or Mapolopolo. While the so called chipolopolo was firing blanks shipolopolo was being hammered. Maybe we just change our names to Mapolopolo. Zambians its time we found a better name representing who we are.

  9. HJ can’t be a coach on this earth. If so let him prove his worthiness and paper THEORIES by coaching a division 4 team like chibuku warriors of Lilanda and get it promoted to division 3.

The only solution now is to FIRE him instantly and replace him with A Dan boy assisted by Chicken George Lwandamina or Simukonda.

Even a blind people would have seen that Chamanga and SINGULUMA were passengers and he kept them for 90+ minutes. Fire him Ba Kalu before we start mathematical calculations of remaing in contention. HJ has no heart for Chipolopolo and Zambian soccer fans.

Recall Mukuka Mulenga, Mudenda, Ngonga and sideline Kabaso Chongo, SINGULUMA and Chamanga. By the way, who’s better between Mukuka Mulenga and that kama-novice boy Zulu he used in that crucial game?

    Jesu wept.

  10. starting line up for the next game should be ( mweene.Kausu, rodrick kabwe(zanaco)nyambe mulenga, stophila, kalaba, sitali,Jackson mwanza,ng’onga, ndhlovu, sate sate .and see how many goals.not these always.

  11. Get Chansa out before the return game with Niger. He doesn’t know anything about coaching. Because he has never coached any club. There has never been a coach without experience among any of the serious teams. Zambia is the first to appoint an amateur coach at national level. A coach if not inspiring would still know how to exploit his players’ talents

    • Keep dreaming.
ERROR: Your comment was too short. Please try to say something useful.
No my comment is not short ba LT Its all I want to say ala. Why do you want to put words into my mouth?

  12. How can a Tonga coach a national team? Please people are we really serious? Mambala alechemafye ingombe and you pick him as a coach. C’mon guys!

    • You are not a patriotic Zambian……How does the tribe come in here? My foot! It is about our team that has become too old. How do you depend on Mayuka who is not featuring in any club football on earth, Chamanga playing with the Chinese, Katongo who is failing to make the bench at Wits…..what tribe are you talking about? It all starts with Kalusha! Let us over haul the entire Zambian team and not the Tonga team Iwe………Which Zambia do you come from where you are bringing tribe into sports!!!!!!Shame on you.

  13. very fun tribalists; wen H.Janza was appointed couch, some pipo claimed he was easterner ,how can he be southerner suddenly?

    get lost tribalists.

  14. Four blind people have criticized HJ for failing to see what they could SEE in the ZAMBIA national team’s blunt striking force against Niger…..They said SUBSTITUTION WERE SUPPOSED TO BE MADE HALF WAY THE GAME AND ZAMBIA WAS SURELY GOING TO COLLECT THE MUCH NEEDED 3 POINTS. THEY FURTHER QUESTIONED WHETHER JANZA WAS BLIND OR SHORT SIGHTED FOR HIM NOT TO SEE THE FLOW??

AND THE PSYCHOLOGIST SAY: IF THE BLIND CAN SEE WITH THEIR NAKED EYES SOMETHING WRONG, THEN HE WHO IS NOT BLIND BUT CANT SEE WITH HIS NAKED EYES, IS DEAD!!!!

  15. The truth is simple. Other teams have improved over the years and now competent fearless especially if a team is carrying a tag on the back as 2012 African champions. Teams tend to play their lungs out i mean look at Nigeria, they have lost 2 games and drawn one. They will be having sleepless nights between now and wednesday just like Zambia. Am actually enjoying the drama…what next??? Some of you lot are weak and have no faith in your own team and yet claim to be chipolopolo fans. When they are down you need to try and support your team and not start calling for the head of coach or blame FAZ. Its irrelevant now just enjoy the suspense and go out in numbers next wednesday to cheer your team. oh!.. and by the way all the best on match day 4 … Sometimes all you need is a bit of luck

    • TRUE! My man. Check the position of Egypt also!! There are no whipping boys anymore in soccer. Someone needs to work totally hard. We need to dig up out roots & restart. Start soccer at primary school! Unfortunatly, even there, ifishishi of teachers & headteachers fail to make ‘under 13’ teams but take old villagers to play. That is where our soccer doom starts.

  16. If NIGERIA the 2013 champions have one point out of 3 games , who are we to have more points than them ? 2 points is already a PLUS for the team. The coach is good and lets give him support, he was trained by Herve renald. EVEN ZAMBIA doesnt qualify ITS NOT strange because big teams have missed AFCON before like egypt, Nigeria, LESOTHO.

    • Ulibe vokamba.
“We dont fail because others have failed. We succeed because others have succeeded.” Zambian Citizen in SA- 2014

  17. We don’t have a coach in H.J, worse still paired with Chintu who just failed Kabwe Worriors. The fact is that we are going to Morocco not because of Janza but that we are used to plaing reactive games. We need to be pro-active.

  18. I did say here the day Janza was appointed Zambia coach that it would all end in tears. On paper, he’s Zambia’s highest certified football trainer next to Kalusha. In practice, though, he’s about as clueless as they come. If it’s any comfort to him, though, Kalusha himself didn’t do that much better in that position.
