Janza: Zambia will remain focused

Share

Coach Honour Janza says Chipolopolo will remain focused after reviving their chances of qualifying for the Morocco 2015 Africa Cup of Nations with a 3-0 victory over Niger on Wednesday evening in Ndola.

Zambia moved into second place on the Group F table after thumping visiting Niger at Levy Mwanawasa to increase their tally to five points from four matches.

Goals from Rainford Kalaba, Emmanuel Mayuka and Kennedy Mweene propelled Zambia to their first victory in the 2015 Africa Cup qualifiers which was also Janza’s first competitive win in-charge of Chipolopolo.

In a post match media conference, Janza said the win against Niger would motivate Zambia ahead of the final two qualifiers against Mozambique in Maputo and Cape Verde in Ndola.

“As we say all the time, the first game was important as the last game so we will stay focused and fight. We are still in the competition,” he told journalists.

Janza paid tribute to soccer fans for rallying behind his team.

“Thank you so much for the support the Zambian people have given us and the patience to wait for us in the competition to win a match,” he added.

Cape Verde top Group F with 9 points, Zambia and Mozambique sits on five points but Chipolopolo have a superior goal difference while bottom placed Niger have two points.

  1. Janza, We did not play well as we are still not technically sound. We looked more of an amateur side than a national team. Jacob Mulenga as usual too much running but little brain on how to score. To be Niger was a better side.

    • Well done Chipolopolo and Gambian Funs Remain focused and don’t get big headed. You can win in Mozambique to top the Group. let us not also relax, source better players than some of those aged and arrogant old timers. we need new fresh blood that can run and score balls. One Zambia – One Nation.

    • Agree…..Jacob and Fwayo too much running but no agenda…..Lift your head and pass the ball very quickly to your friend who has pulled away from the defenders. That is what is called quick break.

    • KKK, how does “lift your head and pass the ball quickly” qualify as a quick break? A quick break is a rapid transition from defense to attack.

  2. Well done coach.

Hoping that Zambia supporters and bloggers will appreciate that this is football. We will win some games, draw some and lose some also.

  3. I think, to be honest, it is better we do not qualify, as we currently do not have a team that can challenge for the ultimate title next year. Looking at our players, and their energy, or lack of it, when compared to other teams, like Congo, SA, Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, one sees mulnourished/stunted players, who can inspire anyone to believe in the team. Better we continue rebuilding, like other teams, e.g. Botswana, and just focus on future tournaments – maybe, just maybe, more ghosts would come to our aid in that future!

    • Iwe ci KBM, the team is there all what is needed is properly blend the players well by this mini coach called Janza. OK he tried in yesterday’s game, at least he was giving some instructions and shouting on the touch line. Not more zombie like actions baaba.

  4. What are you on about KBM? Nigeria have just registered 4 points out of a possible 12! That’s one point more for the chipolopolo on the same number of games played and Nigeria are the defending champions. Get your facts right mate. The Germans are the world champion but they are struggling to qualify for the UEFA championship. There are no easy games any more but we still have a chance to go to Morocco as the Germans have to go to the knockout stage. Eat, breath and sleep football.

  5. I cannot afford to wait for more time to see sate sate in the national jersey please try the boy will see what he will do for mother zambia

  6. Turncoats! Muselela kwakaba! Where the wind blows! Flowing with the current!! I am waiting for those that stormed this site after the draw and after Katongo’s ejection from Camp. When the team scores its hurrah! When they draw or lose it is woe is me!

  7. The team still lucks pace and composure. Mayuka was fortunate to score and he should have not even started the game. Rainford, Chisamba and Mweene have put on so mush wait and this is affecting their performance. Fyawo came in and was merely playing for himself just like Jacob. When you see your friend is running away from the defenders into space, give the ball Fwayo. Stop running like a headless chicken, lift your head and give the ball very quickly and by so doing, you are catching the other team on the wrong foot. There are still so many uncalled for off sides……coach you need to teach your boys how to hold the line upfront. Excellent and timely substitution Janza. This was good from the technical point of view.

  8. Well done.Four points out of six.The question is how many more points do you need badala to qualify?Watch out!GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

  9. Good win,Sate Sate needs more time that is the reason why he hasn’t left the country. Two seasons top scorer not even a club in South Africa in interested in him even TP Mazembe hasn’t offered that means he still has a long way to go.Let him just play for the Under 20 and 23.Maybe in the future during COSAFA Cup he can play not now.

    • 9 points NOT 10. They won 3 games (against Zambia and against Mozambique in Cape Verde and against Niger in Niamey) and lost 1 game 2-0 against Mozambique in Maputo.

  10. NIGER has lodged a complaint to CAF that SUNZU is not zambian, therefore not legible to feature for Chipolopolo . Well they are right though its too late now, the boy all his parents are congolses but its like they came to Zambia long time ago and settled in KWALENGWE. WISH FAZ the best NIGER is not sudan to win cases, so please forge some papers for the kasai boy

  11. Focused! Zambia needs a major revamp starting from the crooks in Football House. …everytime Zambia wins Zombie fans celebrate hoping and praying that those issues have magically disappeared; it doesn’t work like that. …wake up from your docility. ..you will be exposed very soon by these small nationals!!
    Wake up!!
