Acting President Guy Scott has said that he is disturbed that the petition is going round in parliament signed by 60 MP to endorse Mr. Edgar Lungu as the party’s PF Presidential candidate.
Dr Scott said that the endorsement of Mr. Lungu by the petitioners is against the party constitution.
He said that the adoption of the candidate must be done in line with the constitution which call for a convention to elect a Presidential candidate.
Dr Scot said that it was sad that some central Committee members want to select a candidate without going through a general conference.
He noted that there are a range of people who may wish to seek election adding that a democratic process will enable a larger number of party members to scrutinize the candidates.
He said this will also help unite the members around the candidate who gets majority support .
Dr Sott said the party cannot endorse decision through intimidation and disorder.
He said any attempt to short-cut this process or exclude the rank and file will create anarchy.
Dr Scott has since given instructions to start preparations for a general conference at Mulungushi Rock of Authority scheduled on or before 29 November.
Meanwhile, Central Province Patriotic Front (PF) Youths have refuted the statement aired on ZNBC news yesterday from the expelled provincial Youth chairman Jeliat Mutembwa that it was adopting Wynter Kabimba as the presidential candidate for the fourth coming presidential by-elections.
PF Acting Provincial Youth chairman Joseph Nkole Mutamba said the youths in the region will adopt Edgar Lungu as the presidential candidate.
Mr Mutamba said this is because Mr Lungu was the person that the late president Michael Sata left the instruments of power with.
ZANIS reports that Mr Mutemba said this in a statement released in Kabwe today.
He said the former Youth chairman Mr Mutembwa was suspended from the party for the alleged theft of money meant for the purchase of a party vehicle a year ago adding that he was still answering to the charge and could therefore not be the spokesperson for the party in the Central province.
The Acting chairperson said PF in the province was saddened to learn that Mr Mutembwa went to the media purporting to be a provincial spokesperson for the youths and other party members claiming that they had adopted Wynter Kabimba as the sole candidate to stand on PF presidential ticket.
‘Me as acting chairman and my fellow youths, we are saying No to this allegation, Not at one time did we sit together as the provincial executive or rather the youth to adopt Kabimba’, said Mr Mutamba.
He further said that Mr Kabimba as at now was no longer a figure in the national executive because he was removed by the person who appointed him as PF Secretary General, the late president Michael Chilufya Sata, and that he was again removed by the same president from his Ministerial position.
He claimed that Mr Kabimba never even attended the funeral for President Sata which implied that he never loved both the president and his party but marely wanted to bring confusion among party members.
‘Kabimba is only a cadre like any other member in the party without any portfolio, we are relying upon Edgar Lungu as the presidential candidate of PF, as Youths, we stand and say no to Kabimba adoption, and this man, this man, we are even reporting the matter to police to have him arrested for the false statements and allegations he is making to the media’, Mr Mutamba explained.
The PF Youths in the province were reacting to the statement aired on ZNBC alleging that PF dignitaries and youths in the Central province were adopting Wynter Kabimba as their sole candidate for the presidential by-election.
The news is both disturbing and unwarranted.
This wrestling of power and squabbles are not hurting PF only but the
country at large.
It is clear that the PF are not United anymore.
These people care about themselves and the cadres are not representative of the majority and
I have never understood why they matter.
Clearly the Authority are divided and the majority from the Government it seems are position themselves.
We do not deserve this PF, you are better than this.

At some point I thought Guy Scott and Chikwanda were the level headed minds in PF. I still have respect for Chikwanda, but I think this whole mess in PF has really exposed Guy Scott’s poor leadership quality. Explains why he made friends with Sata. It is really worrying. Edgar Lungu should have stayed away and stop been used by some PF hooliganisms we know. If Edgar continues with his battle he will regrete the day he joined PF. 1. GS acknowledges the will of the PF members and tells his backers, the cartel, to allow the boat to attempt to cross the election waters, or

It is just expected that the central committee meet and discuss how they choose the presidential candidate. why is Guy Scott making his own decision? I think Guy scot should be tamed before he throws the country in turmoil.
Let Guy Scott provide funds to pay all delegates because PF as party does not have money to hold such a function unless they use Government money which Zambians cannot allow.

Edgar Lungu should follow laid down procedures to ascend to power. Don’t use these hungry 60 MPs after bribing them for ministerial positions so that they circulate this fake petition. A convention is the way to go. You are not the only one in PF who wants to be adopted for Presidential candidacy, we have Kabimba, Scott, GBM, Mwaliteta, Sichinga, Chikwanda, Lungu, Sampa, Mulenga Sata, Christine Kasuba. Be democratic you guys in PF. Go for a convention!
I see a case were 6 presidential candidates turn up to file for nominations and all will be claiming to be PF presidential candidates, if issues are not properly addressed. Lungu will turn up, GBM will turn up, Miles Sampa, Lubinda, Kabimba and another random person claiming to be a Presidential candidate FOR PF and saying he was chosen by SATA himself. Not even legal suits will resolve this insatiable appetite for power. THE BOAT HAS BEEN ROCKED!!
I would encourage Guy Scott to just resign and watch the game from afar. His going wont be the end of fighting it will even become worse. Those pf guys have proved to be not law abiding people. They want E Lungu who they can easily control and get what they want.

The random presidential candidate will also definitely come. PF is the most deceitful as they are democratic (the only positive so far they have been around). The petition by 63 members doesn’t mean the PF cannot have a national conference. These MPs are merely expressing their preferences collectively through a petition; it is their democratic right to do so just as it is Guy Scott’s democratic right to disagree with them. This does not necessarily mean circumventing the constitution. The national conference can still go ahead and the presidential candidates, including Edgar Lungu, subjected to an election by all the 6,000 delegates who will include the 63 MPs. Who knows the other 5,000 plus delegates might even vote for a candidate other than Lungu.
I’m not sure that I’m understanding the disagreement correctly. Does Lungu want the Central committee to forward several viable candidates and then have an election to select one out of this pool?
If so, there’s nothing wrong with that. Otherwise time and resources will be wasted because everyone and anyone will stand up and ask to be party president at the PF convention.
If the CC is transparent in the criteria they use to select the (5?) candidates and then ask the 6000 delegates to elect one of the 5, both Scott and Lungu’s stances would be satisfied.

PF Central Committee must ensure unity in the party. Hon Lungu is a descendant of late president H E Michael Chilufya Sata. All those who loved the late president will go for Edgar Lungu. As for Dr Guy Scott, the more he shows passivity to Edgar Lungu, the more he is getting exposed because Hon Lungu was appointed by the authoritative power under the Zambian constitution. Whether Hon Guy considered it wrong or not, it was the late Zambian President who anointed him. In the Public eye, the late President exhibited confidence and trust in him and he had to tell the nation who to entrust power with. Any presidential candidate apart from Lungu will undoubtedly spell disaster for P F in the by elections. Hon Scott must just work with Lungu. His hard stance is just exposing him even more.
What we need to understand is that Edgar Lungu is headed for plot 1. Guy Scot needs to know that the Nation Has Spoken. By the way, why take the convention to Nov 29? Bring it to tomorrow so that EL starts campaigning.

GS is being misled by wrong people. If he is not careful, he will get expelled form PF. He should learn to listen to the majority, politics is about numbers. To organise the General Conference the SG should be involved, and not just the names I heard.
On the ground, both PF and opposition members agree E. Lungu would be much easier to sell than anyone else.
Time and resources do not favour the long and expensive root. Of course E.L. would still win, but please bear in mind there is little time before elections. Wr are ready to give E.L. a vote.

The party members should be very careful because this will be the decline of PF party if not united in choosing the presidencial candidate. The victory will come from opposition party otherwise.
It is my ultimost prayer that this time you must unite with the acting president for this short period for positive results.

God gave his creation what Christians call Free Will, the right to choose what they want. He does not impose Presidents on them.That is why Zambia has had a variety of presiidents ranging from tinpot dictators, thieves etc. It’s the people’s onus to vote wisely and democratically, a person they want to lead them. Guy Scott wants democracy to prevail within the PF, not the way Lungu wants the process to be done so that he gets ito plot one even though many people believe he has no presidential qualities. Also remember that it was the so called cartel that helped immensely to put MCS in power.
The acting president HE Dr Guy Scott is fuelling confusion. Why does he want to make unilateral decisions even if he was right about the Congress adopting the PF presidential candidate? What is wrong with calling the Central Committee to meet so that he can listen to their views? He does not have to do what they want but at least he would have been seen to listen to other MCCs before he makes his decisions. One can only think that he wants to plant confusion in the pf in order to buy time for the cartel as it is strategising. What other reason would he have for calling meetings and cancelling them? What other reason if he was not being instructed by cartel? He will burn the nation anyway, but then he does not seem to care a hoot.
Just as a comparison – when we were ‘clamouring’ for a new ‘proper’ Zambian Constitution, some people brushed it aside as not being important. We asked them, how do you expect to implement a country’s economic and political vision without a firm, workable document that is clear, transparent and brings everyone in office to account?
The current PF impasse over choosing a Presidential candidate is what happens when you either decide to ignore what the Constitution stipulates or you have a Constitution which you now realise you hurriedly made – it has a lot of contradictions, loopholes and can easily be manupulated. Some PF memebers must have thought when people talk of Constitutionalism, they are merely saying it because they like the way it sounds. Process or anarchy?
There is nothing untoward, with the central committee meeting and deciding to pick Lungu for President.
There will be a convention. There was need for MP’s to stand up to Attorney General’s conduct.
Guy Scott should be removed from PF AND Zambian politics. He is a troublesome character and has nothing to offer Zambia.
It appears he has a personal agenda to increase British interests in Zambia. Welcome as that is it cannot be done by force and subverting the gov’t of Zambia and it’s indigenous population.
He has been very disruptive that even Mugabe had to discipline him. Is Guy the only decent white Zambian?

For instance “is it “what” president or “who” is the president to be for this great country. How well do you know all the candidates and to be candidates both their private and public lives? no one is coming up with any analysis of these individuals. Zambia my country same old same old Never lean any lessons.
Edgar Lungu for President, well its not sitting well in most of us but his the only person the late president (RIP) honored to appoint to act as president in his absence so they must be some credibility attached to him somehow though hard to chew the thought of him as president.
