The Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) has called on Patriotic Front President Edgar Lungu to take leave from his two ministerial positions.

And FODEP has urged Mr. Lungu to resign as Chawama PF Member of Parliament once declared validly nominated by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ).

FODEP Executive Director MacDonald Chipenzi has told QFM News that Mr. Lungu should step down so that he concentrates on the campaigns and also not to be tempted to abuse his authority, power and resources under him by virtue of serving as minister.

Mr. Chipenzi says this is because Mr. Lungu under the current electoral laws and regulations is not entitled to use any government or parastatal facilities and resources to campaign for his presidential bid under his party’s ticket.

Mr. Chipenzi is of the view that to level the playing field, all presidential candidates should battle it out without using public resources.

Mr. Chipenzi has called on all ministers, District Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries to avoid abusing government resources and facilities like observed during the PF presidential nominations which were done at Cabinet Office and PF Council Meeting held at Kohima Baracks in Kabwe.

  1. It can only work if the three arms of gov’t are 100% independent, otherwise we all know they will remove #plates and install private ones.

  2. Really is that what FODEP can come with? Shame the dogs must have taken up Fodep because we all know that filing of nominations has nit yet been done. The law Chipenzi is reading it while he is drunk. We all know that one has to resign his Parliamentary seat which will automatically without Chipenzi trying to mislead any illiterates mean he is no longer Minister. Any wise person will only do that after filling in nominations successfully. Not now yaimwe ba Chipenzi muleimweneshamo. Amano yachifyalilwa tamwakwata muleikalafye tiyeni uko.

Constitution of the Republic of Zambia (1996). As it is evident that you can read, before making 5tupid of yourself, have decency in reading Supreme Law of the Country.

      Thank you

  3. Lungu needs to relinquish is ministerial position, quote law, something with us Zambians. The guy does not need to quote the law, please take some initiative stupid guy, it is there in plain black and white. Why are most ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ignorant? That is why you need someone who can give you free education up to form 3 so you are able to at lest read. Zambia is finished, look at the judiciary system, laughing ,,,,,,.

  4. Muleya kusukulu when ‘re been taken to learn not ubwalwa and then u start condemning educated people ati quote u shud be reading not ubwalwa fye. It’s common sense that when he assume that position he has to relinquish his ministerial position this is why we ‘re seen unfairness in judicial ruling because he still heads the ministry. Let him take a leave then stand on your own face reality. U shudnt be hiding in a tortoise shell nd control people to rule in your favor.

  5. @deja vu: you are a disgusting tribal bastard. You were not properly brought up and maybe like your superstar Willie Nsanda you were conceived, born and bred at KMB – mulindumbi lyobe.

  6. FODEP should also advise some parties to be democratic. we have some political parties where leaders have become wamuya ya ya. Zambians lets not vote leaders who are not democratic. All parties shud go for convetions

  7. FODEP is headed by UPND so these r the views of UPND, Chipezi help upnd to win.Tell me when was the last upnd convention where they electer hakainde,

  8. Technically it it is when the various positions are effectively inconflict that one needs to resign…i.e. When he is elected president. In the USA for instance Senators running as president don’t resign until they actually
Win the president. You don’t resign at the prospect of holding both offices but the conflict resulting from both simultaneously being reality. That is he spirit of the law.

  9. why do upnd puppies yap yap and not make sense in anything. Even this chipenzi must have a slow punctured brain, where in the constitution does it say what he is demanding useles fodep.

  10. If presidents do not resign and they are known or should i say we always see them use govermeny properties then why should Edgar Lungu resign unless the law say so. Otherwise this is just showing that mr Chipenzi is taking sides.

  11. The presidential sample space is to everyone’s knowledge now.

The choice is purely yours , come election day go and exercise it whether wise or unwise. Whoever will have a simple majority will be our leader.

The church and people will then come out and say leadership is from God.

  12. FODEP and LAZ both very useless associations. When does the sitting president hand over power, is it before the elections or after the elections? In the USA senators who stand as presidential candidates do not resign their senate seats. Please FODEP and LAZ help me, which part of the constitution says that if a minister is nominated by his party to stand as a president then he has to resign his ministerial position?
