Ruling Patriotic Front(PF) Member Sunday Chanda has said that Zambians are watching and laughing at UPND leader’s promises which he is trying to fit in his 18 month’s vision for Zambia.
In a statement released to the media, Mr Chanda said that one would expect Mr Hichilema to know that 20th January 2015 will only be 18 months away from the 2016 Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Government Elections.
“One would expect that HH knows that the 2015 PF Budget will be in effect until January 2016 and Zambians are wondering whether UPND thinks of them as being so gullible as to believe HH will “make more money” elsewhere to do the things he is promising to Zambians, ” he said.
Mr Chanda expressed optimism that once elected the country’s President, Defence and Justice Minister Edgar Lungu will not serve his own personal vision.
Mr. Chanda said that he is certain that Mr. Lungu who is the PF president will go to State House to serve the ruling PF’s vision as captured under the 2011 election manifesto.

EDGAR LUNGU WILL CONSOLIDATE PF’S MEGA VISION FOR A BETTER ZAMBIA
The infamous cartel is still fighting the reality that Minister of Defence and Justice Hon. Edgar Lungu, MP, is the President of the Patriotic Front (PF) and therefore the party’s official candidate in the coming Presidential by-election.
They have not rested and will not rest in their mission to insult, discredit and demean the stature of Hon. Lungu. What is gratifying and pleasing to Zambians is that while they insult, call him names and put words in his mouth, he stands on higher moral ground and refuses to drink from their cup of bitterness and hatred. Zambians know that this media house has never and will never see anything good in Hon. Lungu because their judgment tells them that all that was good about the PF evaporated the day Mr. Wynter Kabimba was fired both as Secretary General and Minister of Justice by late President Michael Sata.
Zambians know the malice behind assertions by some media tabloid alleging that PF President Hon. Edgar Lungu is void of a vision as such a misfit for the Office of President. It is clear to see that while envy is busy digging the mud and passing it on to jealousy to be thrown at the person on Hon.
Lungu, PF’s mega vision, which late President Michael Sata served and which Hon. Lungu will serve as Republican President beyond 20th January 2015, is on the move. While it can be understood that some political parties have served their “small presidents” visions, which Zambians have continued to reject, PF is founded on a strong centre-left ideology as a pro-poor agenda, committed to defeating poverty and bringing honour and dignity to the working class.
President Edgar Lungu is therefore not going to State House to serve his personal vision. He is going to State House to serve PF’s vision as captured under the 2011 election manifesto. This is the vision PF was voted on and one which President Sata served and one that must continue under the Lungu Presidency.
All members of the PF, including its leaders, submit to the Party’s Mega Vision as a framework within which transforming Zambia for the better will happen. Hon. Lungu’s personal vision is his dedication to serve the PF Vision and as a successor, to pick up from where President Sata left in running with the Party vision.
It is also a statement of fact that UPND President Hakainde Hichilema (HH) is losing on 20th January 2015 for very obvious reasons. The UPND leader has gone on rampage promising to “walk on water” by deceiving Zambians that he would provide free education reduce the cost of living, including lowering the price of fuel, but at the same time lead to bigger price reductions in long term to keep prices down. Mr. HH has also promised a National Airline if elected to the Presidency.
Zambians are watching and laughing at these ridiculous promises which form HH’s 18 month’s vision for Zambia. One would expect HH to know that 20th January 2015 will only be 18 months away from the 2016 Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Government Elections. Zambians know that UPND has 27 or so Members of Parliament and suppose the gods went crazy and Mr. HH became President, he would be utterly ineffective and a lame duck because of a hang Parliament. One does not need to be a rocket scientist to appreciate that the UPND are headed for another loss and PF will emerge victorious.
On this score, PF President Lungu must be commended by not making promises he cannot keep for the next 18 months. His duty is to ensure PF delivers on the party’s Mega vision which late President Sata implemented until his untimely death.
It is therefore cheap politicking for anyone to mislead Zambians that Hon. Lungu does not have a vision for Zambia. The vision he has is to actualize PF’s vision in order to realize a better life for all Zambians.
Hon. Lungu is certainly allergic to ego-centric politics where individuals exalt themselves about the party vision and ideals. Populist policies and politics where politicians promise to “walk on water” should be rejected as they are a sign of desperate mediocre leadership which is highly dangerous for Zambia.

Sunday Chanda is not qualified to challenge the promises of HH as he is on record as having made promises which Sata failed to keep. HH’s promises are realistic and make sense. HH is not giving a 90 day time frame but he will set a foundation within 100 days that will allow all these promises to come to fruition. It is the nature of Politics that politicians HAVE to make promises of what they will do. Otherwise why have a manifesto?? The only question we should be asking is are they realistic. Free education up to grade 12 is not walking on water. That is something that can be done in less than one year. Surely there is absolutely nothing wrong with promising something to your people if you believe that you have what it takes to deliver on the promises.
This argument comes boils down to the WHAT and the HOW questions.
Sata tackled the WHAT question just like any normal ambitious person would. The WHAT question is the easiest of the two. Every one knows what they want to better their lives. Unfortunately for Sata, he had no skills to deal with HOW question.

Get your facts right. HH was not involved in any transactions involving privatization of mines. The ZCCM privatization was first handled by Francis Kaunda and the program failed initially. HH is someone who has gone to school. He should not make promises like Sata did which did not make economic sense.
