Share

Government says it is ready to evacuate for specialist treatment national team players who got injured in a road traffic accident on Sunday.
Minister of Youth and Sport Chishimba Kambwili said the state is concerned with the state of the injured players and will ensure that they receive the best medical services.

He said government wants the players to receive the best medical treatment so that they can return to the pitch in perfect condition to ply their trade.

Kambwili said this when he visited Lusaka Trust Hospital where Nyambe Mulenga and ZESCO united club staff are admitted and the University Teaching Hospital where Changwe Kalale is being treated.

The three were injured when a Toyota Hiace minibus they were travelling in collided with an oncoming Toyota Prado on the Great North Road in Lusaka on Sunday.

Kambwili said government will give full support and will work closely with ZESCO united so as to meet any requirements needed during the recovery of the players.

He encouraged the players not to lose hope but embrace a positive attitude believing that they will play football again.

The Minister also appealed to the players’ families to notify government of any assistance they need to be rendered.

Meanwhile, Defender Nyambe Mulenga said he is recovering well and expressed gratitude to government for its support.

He said the visit of acting president Guy Scott and Sports Minister has motivated and given him hope for the future.

And father to Kalale, Bernard Kalale expressed confidence that his son who turned 17 years today will fully recover and return on the pitch again.

  1. Invest money in Hospital facilities Kambwili,
FLights and expenditure used on sending people abroad could be saved by procuring the right machines and paying the doctors their dues

    Thanks

    • Well said. I only hope somebody up there in those offices takes time to read these posts, they actually reflect the peoples feelings out there.

  2. Don’t just pronounce that you are ready, what are you waiting for? The ambulance? Just evacuate if you have to, not necessary to start making points over nothing, just evacuate I say!

  3. ….tying to gain a political mileage on wrong platform…..trying to win public support from such statements…..hoodwinking people into believing that the govt is very caring….why do people think evacuation is the best option as opposed to improving local facilities..??….a ministers daughter has a blister in the armpit…evacuated to SA without sense of shame….
…evacuations must be the prerogative of special medical team to recommend and finally approved by the minister of health…its not for every Jim and Jack to pronounce the evacuation….ba Kambwili please…

  4. Had thought of the evacuation earlier but didn’t write it as some bloggers would have perceived my comment to be in bad taste. I concur with @ Mushota suggestion.

  5. Mushota, thumbs up. Water, hospitals, schools, the list is long. The problem is PF has long pockets so investment in anything is a taboo. Investing in Nsanda and Chikwanda is what our government has put us through.

  6. who CARES about those futbolaz? We are in campaign MODE now not football please , NO diaturbing the PILOTS , we shall land to state house on 21st jan.2015 at 15hrs
