RAINBOW Party president Wynter Kabimba says he could not remain in the Patriotic Front (PF) and help president Edgar Lungu with campaigns because the party has allegedly lost the ideals on which it was established.
He also acknowledged having belonged to one of the camps while in PF but denied being arrogant.
“If you say so that I belonged to the cartel while in the PF, I would say yes if you want me to say that.”
“I joined the PF because I believed in its ideals and I believed in President Sata. After the death of President Sata, I no longer saw these ideals in the PF and the most honourable thing for me was to leave,” Mr Kabimba said.
“From this background, I could not support or help president Lungu’s campaigns or the PF,” he said.

Mr Kabimba, who is former PF secretary general, said this during the Radio Phoenix Let the People Talk radio programme.
He also said he has been vindicated from assertions that he was fighting for the PF leadership.
“The people who wanted to stand for PF presidency fought me out of the party and you saw them, 10 of them at the PF convention in Kabwe,” Mr Kabimba said.
“The PF was formed by Mr Sata and it took a lot of persuasion by him and Acting President Guy Scott for me to join the PF. I was attracted to the PF constitution and the programme of social development intended to uplift the life of ordinary Zambian,” he said.
Mr Kabimba said he later accepted the job in Cabinet after the late president persuaded him again to join government.

adversties and he is still standing, for now atleast. People will be interested to know the inside story of the happenings during Sata’s ailing. People broke the law by keeping and incapacited president in State house and they are back on the podium campaigning as if nothing happened and you are there talking trash with them. If you are any worth than them explain things in depth and don’t just be saying the obviuos? For all I know you are just like them the only difference is that you are not with them for now. Wynter was fired because he thought he was nailed on to get into state house. Before Pres Sata was evacuated, he left the Instruments of Power with Wynter. Upon seing the presidents condition, Wynter was certain that Pres Sata was not going to return alive, so the chap started using the presidential motorcade and air fleet. When Pres Sata returned suddenly, Wynter was in Solwezi campaigning and was not on hand to welcome the Pres and hand back the Instruments as is the usual protocol. There was a period when Zambia had 2 presidents! That was why he was fired!
Very principled man Kabimba is and I think it has become very clear that the man was a disciplinerian in PF. All those who made unnecessary noise were either fired or sidelined by the capable CEO, Mr. Kabimba. What we have now are just lumpens, all they are expert in is looting. Mind you this is just Wealth and it can take you no where. If you become rich remember to share with the under previlaged, but the crop we have in PF , the likes of Sikazwe, very much hungry to reap more and behave like they live in developed country and yet the majority of people are not having the required three meals per day. The first time Sata formed his political party, he was not ripe for the presidency them, hence his losses in several elections that followed, that built him to were he ended up as president of Zambia.
Today Winter has formed a political party, this was on the backdrop of his failures while in the PF, his personal outlook and leadership style led to his fall out with most people within and outside pf, that is one on the things that will build him because he now knows where he went wrong and that will shape him to be a better leader.
I can tell you now that the winter you knew is not the Winter that is there now, he has learnt his lessons the hard way and that should make him a better person.
His decision not to contest the 2015 elections is also another sign of wisdom and maturity.

It is Sata who made it possible for you to acquire the little recognition you have. Now that you have left PF, you will go back to old kawayawaya days and your insignificant party will soon fizzle out and obliterated from the paper it was registered on. Sata had tremendous trust in you but you were filled with unbridled pride and thought you were smarter than him. See where you are now. You are no better that Alex Muliokela and Ackim Ngosa. When did you come to realise that PF had lost that ideal? After you were fired?
In fact President Sata did well to fire Kabimba because if he was still Secretary general, there would have been killings during the succession wrangles and PF would have been MORE DIVIDED than it has been before reconciliation because winter would not have accepted any one other than him to take over from Sata. Because of Sata’s good intelligence network he fired Kabimba just before he died and that helped to avoid BLOODSHED.
