Zesco United on Sunday brew away a first half lead to settle for a 1-1 draw with Mbabane Swallows of Swaziland in the two team’s opening 2015 CAF Champions League match in Manzini.
Zesco took a 1-0 lead into the break with midfielder Justin Zulu scoring on the nick of half time in this first leg match of the
preliminary round.
The FAZ Super League champions were seemingly heading for a famous victory at Somhololo Stadium before they were stunned by Felix
Badenhorst’s 90th minute equaliser.
It appeared to be a heartbreaking equaliser for George Lwandamina’s side as they escapted Manzini with a painful draw.
The two teams clash in two weeks time in the return leg set for Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Meanwhile, the overral winners between Zesco and Swallows will face either Sewe Sport or Kaloum in the next round of the Champions League.
Kaloum are leading Sewe 2-1 from the first leg match played on Saturday.
A scoring draw is better when playing away from home. Congrats Zesco. Victor Maambah
Not a bad result, provided they win at Levy.
These Zambian teams must forget about doing better in these cups bcoz our record is very poor!!you cant fail to beat a Swazi team then dream of doing better against big north african teams later on!!both Power FC and Zesco FC wont go any further!!they must stop giving us fake hopes!!
The chances for ZESCO is there not ba mataba ba POWER.
Best wishes on the way forward.
