Zesco face Power in Charity Shield final

Zesco United and Power Dynamos clash at Nkana stadium in Kitwe on Saturday in the 2015 Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Memorial Charity Shield final.

The final will see 2014 league champions Zesco and Power who finished behind them in second place battle for the first silverware up for grabs in the season-opening competition.

Power head into the game with a competitive advantage over Zesco who are winless against the Arthur Davies side in their last eight encounters.

Zesco have suffered five defeats and three draws since 2010 when they last beat Power 1-0 in the league in Ndola and 2-0 in the Barclays Cup semifinals.

“We really need to keep that record. If we let it go these guys will be saying that we can also beat Power Dynamos,” assistant Power coach Anderson Phiri said.

“But let us not take that lightly, we have to work hard for that final result at the end of the day.”

Victory for Power will hand coach Tennant Chilumba his first Cup win since his appointment in June, 2013.

“And it is every coach’s wish to have something in the cabinet. It is something that we really need to win as Power Dynamos,” Phiri said.
