Zesco Utd launches title defence

FAZ Super League champions Zesco United on Saturday begins their title defence when they host Napsa Stars in a Week Two match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Zesco’s Super League campaign was delayed owing to their engagement in the CAF Champions League when the local championship opened last week.

The Ndola outfit are hosting a Napsa side that started the league campaign with a 3-1 win over National Assembly at home.

However, Zesco look set to continue their dominance over the Lusaka side.

Last season, Zesco trounced Napsa 2-0 at home and 1-0 away in Lusaka.

Elsewhere, Power Dynamos begins life after their 4-0 hammering at Gabonese side CF Mounana in the CAF Confederation Cup with a home league match against Lusaka Dynamos at Arthur Davies Stadium.

Perry Mutapa’s Lusaka side visits Power after losing to Choma Eagles 1-0 in their opening league match.
But Mutapa has remained defiant after the Week One loss.

“We are in the Super League so we are as good as any team.

Our next match against Power will be a different ball game but our plan will be to improve,” Mutapa said.

Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe is hosting the match between Nkana and the home side Konkola Blades.

Nkana are under-pressure to win at Konkola after launching their campaign with a 1-0 home loss to Red Arrows.
Beston Chambehi’s team has never beaten Konkola in Chililabombwe in 14 years.

“We have to be patient. I know we have players who can score and for sure goals will come,” Chambeshi said.
In Ndola, former league champions Zanaco are visiting promoted Forest Rangers at Dola Hill.

Forest, who are smarting from a 2-0 loss at Nchanga Rangers, would not have chosen Zanaco as their next opponent if they had a chance.
