Government has dismissed as false and misleading online stories and a featured photograph suggesting that a Zambian has been killed in the xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

Chief Government Spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili says the stories and picture posted online are a total fabrication and should therefore be ignored with the contempt they deserve.

Mr. Kambwili who is also Information and Broadcasting Services Minister says Zambian authorities are in constant touch with the South African government and the Zambian Mission in Pretoria.

He says there is no single Zambian caught up in the xenophobic attacks, urging the media to be factual and objective in their reporting.

A picture depicting an injured and helpless man laying in a pool of blood has gone viral with accompanying stories suggesting that he is a Zambian killed in xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

The purported Zambian victim is clad in an orange jersey.

  1. Some Zambians are id.iots. They think having one of their own killed in SA is a badge of honour. These fo.ols had the opportunity to protest in 2012 when Zambian Truck driver Derricks Chanda was burnt to death in Katanga but they never bothered. But today they are so concerned about the individuals who were wantonly killed in SA. Some Zambians are hypocrites. I repeat: Derricks Chanda was burnt to death in DRC but you did nothing!

    • Those South Africans kill Zambians in their hospitals. They make sure you spend money first and then they take you out. You are already victims!

    • As far as Iam concerned we Zambians are the kindest people in Africa because we have never attacked any group of people unless we are provoked as the Congoles did to us when they killed driver Chanda as well as when the Somalis killed that boy who worked as a labourer. Also we Zambians are very welcoming but only on occassion do we wake up and start rounding up toma foreigners and arrest them even if they have papers as we recently did in Ndola..truth is no-one is perfect. Even me I can’t stand Nigerians , Congolese and Senes I would rather have a South African in Zambia than a useless Sene.

    • Kambwili, don’t be stu.pid, A Zambian has been killed and you want to play it down. come out in open because south africans have to pay for this. they lived in Zambia during apartheid with their ANC headquartered in Lusaka..

If it is true then the south Embassy in Lusaka should be attacked. they are st.upid people and not thankful.

Come out open on this case..

    • WORD!
So, this baby hippo wants us to wait until one Zambia is killed for us to take it to the streets?

      This ought to stop, bane.

  2. A Zambian has been attacked in South Africa.
Meanwhile, to maintain the government’s cordial relationship with South Africa,
Zambian police have been ordered to stop the planned protest in Zambia from Arcades to RSA High Commission. Zambian government officials need South Africa to access hospitals and shopping malls.
Details of attacked Zambian coming soon.

It is not surprising that the Zambian Govt is reluctant to condemn the murderous South Africans. The reason is the Zambian leaders will never be attacked because they enjoy top security and secondly they do not want to lose the luxury medical treatment they receive in the RSA. Why stop the protests?

  4. As a Zambian in diaspora, I wish to strongly urge the PF Government to seriously consider bringing back convenience supper-markets like CBC, Mwaiseni Stores etc., immediately. With importation of various merchandise from Europe, China, Taiwan and even South Africa itself, will awaken and even embarrass those ‘lost’ brothers and sisters in RSA at what Zambian can do.

Only when we do this shall we bring back our lost “Industrial Revolution” we used to boast off and that saw companies like INDECO, ZIMCO, FINDECO flourish. This will eventually bring in South African companies who are in the manufacturing industry to come to Zambia again after all, most (if not all South African companies are foreign and NOT local. We cannot afford to be insulted and even killed by pipo we looked after.

THE SPIRIT OF IDENTIFYING EACH OTHER AS FOREIGNERS AMONG AFRICA IS SIGN OF ANIMAL ISM.

AS LONG AS WE ARE AFRICANS, WE ARE ONE PEOPLE… WHEN SOUTH AFRICA WAS ON ITS KNEES, OTHER AFRICAN COUNTRIES LIKE ZAMBIA WAS THERE FOR IT. NOW THEY ARE OKAY, THE HAVE STARTED SPEAKING ABOVE THEIR BREATH…

IF THE KING OF THE ZULU DID NOT WANT FOREIGNERS, HE WOULD HAVE DONE IT IN MORE RESPECTABLE WAY. IT IS HIS LAND, BUT SHADING BLOOD AS IF THOSE FOREIGNERS REFUSED TO LEAVE THAT PLACE IS WHAT ROBES HONOR TO THAT PLACE.

HOWEVER, THE KING OF THE ZULUS CAN STILL APOLOGIZE FOR HIS UNCALLED FOR STATEMENT.

SADC, COMESA AND AFRICAN UNION MUST BRING SOUTH AFRICA TO ORDER…

WE ARE WATCHING AND NOT HAPPY.

    • your government should take care of its people and not to expect south Africa to take care of your citizens. south Africa has its own individual problems. so you must stop burdening our country with your people , we got enough of our problems as it is. we got one of the highest unemployment in the world and you are adding to that, and expect our country to also take care of your people too, its really unfair and selfish of you. during apartheid our comrades were in your countries yes!!! but not to sell drugs and make spazashop . they were kept on camps and were documented. your people don’t even have papers to be here. ANC government has made a big blunders by opening our borders for you, and I am sure we will regret this for a long time to come. even our coming generation will blame us.

    We all joining .Xenophobia now

Africa .Tit for tat .No Shoprite no MTN
    Bye bye Africa

  7. First of all, we have all been affected. Focusing on nationalities is dangerous and naive. These thugs are not checking the passports of those they murder.

As sad as these events are, they present an opportunity for our region. Let us work together now and create viable industries and infrastructure to sustain our people. Let us all boycott anything and everything South African. And let us see how their economy survives.

I hope Kambwili is taking notes as I know he reads everything posted about anything. So I challenge you to initiate steps to achieve this.

  8. Hey nigger…….u heard about the guy who was burnt to death in Katanga online. Now u say pipo never bothered.

Government even issued a protest and formed a committee that travelled to doc.

    Wats up nigger

  9. Whether a Zambian got killed or not, that is not the point. South African blacks are killing foreigners who are not white ironically they can only beat a dead white mans statue on the way.

‘The South Africans are very backward in terms of historical development,” Guy Scot said. “I hate South Africans. That’s not a fair thing to say because I like a lot of South Africans but they really think they’re the bees’ knees and actually they’ve been the cause of so much trouble in this part of the world. who would blame Guy Scot for that comment?

  10. Congratulations Zambians for your team work in this war against these hooligans. Such high spirits of being your brothers’ keepers potray your patriotism even beyond your borders. However, politics is a dirty game . You jointly condemn these chaos but locally you won’t wish to see a fellow zambian eye to eye due to his/her political affilliation. Why not retain the same brotherly spirit. This is an african problem where we appreciate one another in the diaspora but locally we disintegrate. HH meant the same issue as the govt in his hooliganism statement today but others condemned him. I admired your joint spirit and wished if it can be our guideline in our political affairs, Lets drop hypocrisy and unite to take our continent to greater heights unlike those South African f00ls.

  12. The AU chair person “Zuma” must step down. We cannot be represented by the very people who are killing there brothers and sisters.

    • It is not Zuma nimwe ba Chanda. By condemning everyone in one broad stroke you are exhibiting the same kind if ignorance as the xenophobic nitwits.

  13. We just need God’s intervention …we are in the last days …the bible says ..nations will rise against nations…….

  14. This BUFFOON doesn’t get it does he? If a Zambian happen to there they f**ls would have murdered him does he not understand what the term kwere kwere is?

  15. Speech by V.W. Botha.

    5 hrs ·
This is a speech made by former South African President P.W Botha to his cabinet about 27 years ago. It was reprinted by David G Mailu for the Sunday Times, a South African newspaper, in 1985.
I quote…” We are not obliged even the least to try to prove to anybody and to the blacks that we are superior people. We have demonstrated that to the blacks in 1001 ways. The Republic of South Africa that we know of today has not been created by wishful thinking. We have created it at the expenses of intelligence, sweat and blood………We do not pretend like other whites that we like the blacks. The fact that, blacks look like human beings and act like human beings do not necessarily make them sensible human beings. Hedgehogs are not porcupines and lizards are not…

  16. Is Kambwili saying Zambians are immune to xenophobic attacks in S Africa? Are Zambians branded on their foreheads that they are Zambians and special and could not be attacked? What is Kambwili saying here? I saw a picture in Zambian Watchdog where a Zambian was lying on the ground bleeding in S Africa after being attacked.

  17. African leaders are hypocrites and Robert Mugabe is number one he has not commented on the xenophobic attacks in South Africa is it because Africans have decided to kill each other. If it was a white person who started these attacks African leaders could have been fighting for space to comment now since the know that it was a Zulu King with Shaka’s blood all are pretending not to know how it started hypocrites and disgraceful leaders.
