Nkana labour to defeat Forest Rangers

Share

Nkana on Saturday moved into sixth place on the FAZ Super Division table after a hard-fought 1-0 win away at Forest Rangers in Ndola.

This was Nkana’s third win of the season and their second straight victory.

Speedy winger Shaderick Musonda scored the lone goal in this Week 8 match played at Dola Hill Grounds to break the hearts of a determined Forest side.

Musonda pounced on a loose ball inside the box following a lapse in the Forest backline before unleashing powerful shot just minutes after replacing Austin Muwowo.

After this goal, Kaunda Simonda’s Forest tried to equalise but lucky was not on their side as they missed several scoring opportunities.

Forward Laurent Muma saw his powerful shot from outside the box hit the upright before Walter Bwalya was denied by keeper Rabson Mucheleng’anga on a one-on-one situation.

Nkana were the first to create a serious chance through defender Amos Simwanza whose goal bound header was stopped by Morgan Phiri after eight minutes.

Meanwhile, Nkana have now increased their tally to 12 points from eight games.

Forest drops from 13th into 14th place and remain stuck on seven points after eight games.
