The ruling patriotic front (PF) in Mpongwe district has refuted allegations of mass defecations in the constituency to the opposition Rainbow Party.
Mpongwe PF constituency secretary Harrison Kamanga said that contrary to reports published in yesterday’s post newspaper; the party membership in intact and so far conducted 8 ward committee elections out of the total 13 wards.
Mr. Kamanga disclosed that the Ibenga ward committee elections failed to take off as only 5 branches attended the ward elections out of the 15 which
did not form a quorum which prompted postponement of the elections to a later date.
“We wish to refute the story in the post newspaper, we don’t have a Lawrence Msiska who was quoted in the post but we only have a Vincent
Msiska and he has never been present in any Ward committee elections, the story is a total fabrication, ” He said.
The Post newspapers Limited yesterday reported that ward committee elections in Mpongwe constituency had failed to take off due to alleged mass defections of PF members to the opposition Rainbow Party.
Mr. Kamanga says the ruling party had done its homework and will meet any opposition political party in the forthcoming 2016 general
He added that politics is about numbers and that the party had continued to recruit new members on a daily basis as compared to the
opposition rainbow party which he said only existed in the media.
“Rainbow party is disorganized and only exists in the media, we have done our homework as a party and we are ready to meet them on the
ground next year.” He said.
