Promoted Real Nakonde Football Club on Sunday continued with their steady rise on the FAZ Division One North table after stunning visiting Ndola United 1-0 to move into third place.
Nakonde have 23 points, three behind leaders Kalulushi Modern Stars, after 13 games played.
This is the first time the Maybin Chama coached side are climbing into the top three following their promotion this year.
In Solwezi, second placed Lumwana Radiants continued breathing heavily on Kalulushi as they thumped Kitwe United 3-1 to preserve their position on the log.
Chris Honda, Gozon Mutale and Mike Banda scored for Allan Kamwanga’s charges.
Lumwana moves to 25 points.
Meanwhile, the Modern Stars of Kalulushi maintained their lead in the northern region after edging Mining Rangers 1-0 away at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.
Striker Rryian Berrington scored the goal that condemned his old club to a loss.
This was Kalulushi’s second straight victory.
