The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) in Lusaka have condemned the violence by suspected opposition UPND cadres on Secretary General Davies Chama and his convoy in Mulobezi district.

PF Acting Media Director Sunday Chanda accused the UPND of using the infamous “Mapatizya” formular which was allegedly used in Choma district in Southern province.

Speaking at the same occasion, PF Strategy, Media and Publicity member Mulenga Fube accused Civil Society Organization (CSOs) of making acrimonious statements on President Edgar Lungu and the entire PF leaders to defend their donors.

Mr. Fube said the CSOs chief executive officers were using the constitution to fight government.

He advised the CSOs that Article 296 over land is not the only issue but that there are other contentious matters in the draft constitution which government was addressing.

Human Rights Defender and Governance Expert Ngande Mwanajiti regretted that people were violating the public order act using the draft constitution.

Mr. Mwanajiti commended Police in Mulobezi for their quick intervention to quell the situation in Mulobezi yesterday.

Meanwhile, Mr Chanda said the PF is a non-violent political party and condemned the Mapatizya formula as belonging to the stone age period.

Mr. Chanda, who was flanked by PF Strategy, Media and Publicity members Mulenga Fube and Human Rights Defender and Governance Expert Ngande Mwanajiti was speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka today.

He claimed that the PF is standing on fertile grounds in the three parliamentary by-elections in Mulobezi, Petauke Central and Malambo seats slated for June 30, 2015.

He commended Mulobezi Police for detaining former UPND Member of Parliament and candidate, Hastings Sililo for allegedly masterminding the ambush against the PF Secretary General and causing violence that occurred last evening.

Mr. Sililo’s official vehicle registration number ALD 9469 was found with axes and pangas and his Toyota Hilux D4D has since been impounded.

Yesterday, a convoy of vehicles belonging to the UPND descended on the motorcade of PF Secretary General Davies Chama who had gone to Mulobezi on a campaign tour to drum up support for the Party candidate, Patricia Mulasikwanda in the June 30 parliamentary by-election.

The Supreme Court nullified the Mulobezi seat due to Electoral corruption and malpractices.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) advised political parties to refrain from importing cadres to areas of by-elections to discourage incidences of violence and clashes.

    • “Meanwhile, Mr Chanda said the PF is a non-violent political party and condemned the Mapatizya formula as belonging to the stone age period.”

Yes, when you are in government in a non-democratic society like ours, your party uses all the Government machinery to make you appear innocent.

Who can believe the statement by Mr Chanda? Who does not know the violent history of the PF and MMD party cadres in their hey days? Come on, Mr Chanda. Every PF cadre, no matter how junior is being covered by the so-called “public” broadcaster while the opposition is blacked out, thank God for online media.

    • THIS IS PURE PROPAGANDA AIMED AT DISCREDITING UPND. WHAT PANGAS ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT. PF IS THE ONE WE KNOW TO BE A PANGA FAMILY. DON’T IMPLICATE SILILO AFTER YOU USED SOME HUNGRY VILLAGERS TO PLANT THOSE PANGAS IN HIS CAR. PF WILL FOREVER REMAIN A ROTTEN PARTY.

    • @Spongebob

What is trybow? What strange language is this?

And your insults do not portray a non-violent PF as clamed by your friend Chanda.

  1. In this article where have they mentioned of chama shooting a updn cadre. ZWD should be realistic in their bias reporting because they are the ones supporting violence in such situations.

  2. Let the police not detain Hastings Sililo but jail him too.UPND is a very violent party!!i personally know Trevor Mwiinde(a UPND cadre now in chimbokaila due to violence offences) who used to move with pangas, knives plus many weapons in his van.this guy used to tell us how they(UPND militia) attack PF during elections.HH is very much aware about all this.I WARNED TREVOR THAT ONE DAY YO BAD BEHAVIOUR WILL SEND TO JAIL AND TODAY HE IS IN!!we must be doing civilised politics and not what UPND is doing.today that poor is in pain while HH is enjoying in New Kasama.PLEASE FELLOW YOUTHS REFUSE BEING USED BY THESE SELFISH POLITICIANS!

  3. PF, UPND and MMD are all violent parties. UPND has been advised not to play in the hands of the violence of the ruling parties by retaliating or in self defense but they seem to lack self control and want to prove a point that they are also powerful, the only difference is MMD and PF have tasted power in Government and UPND has not which may disadvantage them by people’s perception of also being labelled a violent party. Repent UPND before it is too late, the other parties have nothing to lose because they know they have lost people’s confidence, UPND has everything to lose by retaliating. What were the weapons doing in the UPND vehicles, no one will be able to tell the difference between the violent parties. UPND repent and turn to the Lord.

  4. The Media should also give the whole picture and report on the UPND cadre who was attacked , all violent parties need to be strongly cautioned whether ruling or opposition. Violence is a no no in Zambia in Jesus name. Politicians repent or you perish in your iniquities, wickedness and evil. Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people.

  5. Its very unfortunate it seems no one is telling the truth here. Pf thugs they always want to be smart. This seat was under upnd and the pf is doing everything to win this seat to gain mileage. This is what happened in Livingstone by these thugs such as Mwaliteta who killed a fellow pf cadre and accused upnd by locking Garry. This is how bad these fools can be. We know them and God is watching and one day God will liberate us from this thuggery.

  6. Sunday is the kind of guy that talks loud and says nothing. He is as shallow as they come. Typical PF
