Mweene wary of Guinea Bissau

Zambia number one Kennedy Mweene is wary of 2017 Africa Cup Group E qualifier opponents Guinea Bissau.

Chipolopolo will host Guinea Bissau’s on June 13 in the two sides opening Group E qualifier at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

“I have been researching on Guinea Bissau and I haven’t found anything which is even more dangerous because you cannot underrate those people because you don’t know what they will come with, and you don’t what players they have, and what game plan they have, so those are the most dangerous teams to play against,” Mweene said after practice at Arthur Davies Stadium on Tuesday on the teams first day of training since setting up camp in Kitwe on Monday.

Meanwhile, Mweene is one of eleven foreign-based players already in camp.

Others are defenders Davies Nkausu, Kabaso Chongo, Aaron Katebe and Emmanuel Mbola, midfielders Nathan Sinkala and Mukuka Mulenga, strikers Emmanuel Mayuka, Bornwell Mwape and Given Singuluma who were all part of Tuesday morning training at Arthur Davies.

Striker Ronald Kampamba of Egyptian club Wadi Degla joined the team at afternoon training.

Coach George Lwandamina is now expecting captain Rainford Kalaba, defender Stopilla Sunzu and midfielder Chisamba Lungu- the latter expected to be the last callup on Wednesday.

  1. It is difficulty to dislike future coach Mweene, but I just wish and pray that he humble allow Danny Munyau or Banda to start in goal. Mweene can go in as an “entertaining” midfielder.

  2. I am more wary that Mweene will try some foolish dribbling in front of his own goal and lose possession to a Guinea Bissau player whom he will foul and helplessly watch the ball go into his goal mouth for fear of being given a red card. Mweene retire!
