PATRIOTIC Front (PF) secretary-general Davies Chama has disowned two individuals who are seeking a court order to stop the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) from conducting the 2016 presidential and general elections.
Richard Mumba, a pastor, and Wright Musoma, a businessman, have argued that President Lungu should serve a full five-year term before another presidential election can be held.
This is contained in a petition filed in the Lusaka High Court.
Pastor Mumba and Mr Musoma want the court to determine whether or not President Lungu has been discriminated against by article 35 sub-articles one and four.
The duo has sued the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) and the Attorney General as first and second respondents, respectively.
But Mr Chama said pastor Mumba and Mr Musoma are not PF members and are merely masquerading as sympathisers of the ruling party.
“PF has nothing to do with these people, I have checked our party’s documentation and I can’t find any information linking them to PF,” Mr Chama said.
He said President Lungu’s mandate ends next year and the constitution is clear on this.
“These are just disgruntled people who are being used to destroy President Lungu’s name and that of the PF. They want to bring unnecessary debate,” Mr Chama said.
He said it should be made clear that this is not a PF position but that of detractors who want to draw the ruling party into unnecesarry debate.
He also said the two might have a lot of money to spend on court cases and they should have first approached the PF before going ahead with their case.
Mr Chama said these individuals do not have President Lungu’s blessings and that of the PF.
He also warned that PF will thwart attempts by individuals to bring the name of the ruling party into disrepute just as it has countered pastor Mumba and Mr Musoma.
Tell them! Also EL should refute this at the planned rallies.
That Davies Chama is the most DULL and idiiotic PF member. Probabbly he should just let that Mumbi Phiri respond on behalf of PF, she is more sharper.
Kabimba alitumpile, but he was never being so dull as that Chama. In any statement which comes from Chama is like a hyena’s noise, you never know if it is laughing or crying.
“They want to bring unnecessary debate,” Mr Chama said. This is the nature of Bembas. Chama himself had been distracting the nation with irrelevant and untrue comments against Tongas. PF is doomed because of its predominant Bemba membership and their love for chaos, noise-making and rabble rousing. Zambia is in economic crisis right now and needs sobriety and direction.
We all know Lungu was behind the court petition and has backed out of fear of an uprising in opposition to his devious intentions
It is obvious the two gentlemen are Lungu’s agents.
But if Lungu has thought twice and realised it’s culpable impact on his reputation and national stability, and as a result made a U-turn, the better.
Guess They realized that Zambians will not take it lightly so quick to respond to make people think they are responsible??
Interesting How these Dull PF members can twist things. That’s why as a party which should be like an institution?? they have no website??

Lungu is a devious character, always hiding behind other individuals.
During the run-up to the presidential by-election he hid behind Jean Kapata, harassing Guy Scott; at the PF convetion he hid behind the machete wielding chawama gang; in harassing the DPP he hid behind Newton Nguni; in the case of Sata’s family accomodation crisis, he is hiding behind Roland Msiska.
Finally, in trying to illegally extend his mandate, he is hiding behind two dunderheads. Make it three, with Davis Chama now trying to pour water on the fire.
We all are aware that PF members carry no cards and only those in leadership positions are identifiable. So which records did Mr Chama check? After all anybody can claim that they are PF the same way they can be denied by the leadership as impostors! Now it explains why violence can not be tied to cadres that have no party identities and are just a bunch of hooligans. Any wonder that PF convention anyone is eligible identification being approval by other hooligans. Chama however maintains records that he refers to

I give PF the benefit of the doubt and thank them for rejecting this petition. The judge should dismiss the application with costs.

The petitioners quoted Article 35 in the constitution, now which Article is Chama referring to that clearly talk of 2016.
This may be an issue that need reviewing in the new constitution.
On the other hand, if he just finishes Sata’s term, will he be given two terms of his own? There must clearly be a lacuna here. I would rather wait for our learned lawyers to enlighten us on this one.

Africans should not be trusted with following up on statutes. Look at the Burundi mess, and the Al Bashir nonsense in Egypt, Nigeria, and now South Africa. Until we hear it from the horse’s mouth, we remain skeptical.
