Give Dr Manda National Mourning-PPAZ

Share

Planned Parenthood Association has appealed to Government to consider giving late renowned Urologist Dr Francis Manda a national mourning.

PPAZ Executive Director Edford Mutuma said in an interview that Dr Manda deserves to be honoured for his great contribution to the medical field in Zambia.

“As PPAZ we are greatly saddened by passing away of Dr Manda, we consider him as a national hero, he was a man of incredible intellectual skills, a deeper thinker in the medical industry and a great son of this soil,” Mr Mutuma said.

He continued, “Dr Manda dedicated his life to helping many people both inside hospitals and outside. As we reflect in this week of national heroes, these are such heroes whom we need to consider and think of.”

“We hope the government will take this passing on as a great loss for the nation. We think Dr Manda deserves national mourning and also recognition to his contribution to the nation and may His soul rest in peace.”

Dr Manda died at Lusaka’s University Teaching Hospital early on Friday.

  1. Rename UTH after Manda.
Lusaka Airport was renamed after KK, same with Levi Mwawasa Hospital (I don’t know for what reason).

    • I agree that Dr Manda was great at what he does, but he shouldn’t be accorded national mourning. If no one will say it, I will say it; Great Doctor, loose morals. He died of HIV from chasing skirts. Luo should be dancing on his grave. Like someone said, name a hospital or a ward after him.

  2. Great man indeed. Mhsrip. Infectious voice of wisdom every Saturday morning when I’m nursing my hangover

  3. The man was not only heroic and great but he was humble. For us who met him physically, it will be hard to accept anything less. He gave a full measure. He was a dedicated professional who crossed lines to your side and clearly wanted to help. He was never on the other side but on the patient’s side always. Humility and willingness to serve were his trademarks.
RIP Doc, great son of Africa. Will miss you so dearly ????. What a loss…. Go well

  4. Manda does not deserve any special treatment, he worked and was paid his dues just like many other Zambian doctors did. Medical illiterates think he was a hero which is very sad ask his fellow doctors. The man was a hazard to patients in most cases, a very care free doctor. They are so many Zambia medical doctors who have done wonders in Zambia and they seek no publicity like Manda the alcoholic and womaniser.

    • Man we may be medical illiterates and illiteracy contributed in appreciating Doc Manda, but know this – we would rather remain medical illiterates if that is what it takes to be able notice and appreciate a good Doc. Doc Manda had a heart for the people; he gave his all even when he himself was wasting. He clearly valued the feelings of others more than his. He was humble and very patient to everyone who met him. When you met him, you wanted to stay because he was warm. Only doctors like you @8 felt intimidated by his deep knowledge and heart for the people.
If I had my way, I would call for erection of his memorial statue at UTH. You annoy a lot of people by condemning him. I think you should shut up.

  5. People with Holier than thou atitudes always shows very evil personalities and want to settle scores through media . How many skeletons are hidden in such people ‘ Wardrobes?. Rest in peace our urologist son of the Zambia soil. Medical history in Zambia will be incomplete withoutthe mention of the Germany trained Doc Francis Manda

  6. Manda was mambo jumbo characters who liked insults. We don’t need people who insult men or women in the name of a profession. We’ll meet on the judgement day.

    • If you felt entertained by him. I didn’t appreciate his crude characteristics. I felt he was a jerk like PETER GRIFFIN. Urology is not talking about V’s and P’s and how to and not to wash them. GET A LIFE MANDA!

  7. He was not as competent as some people want us to believe. He made a lot of blunders and left families grieving . He only got away with it because he was a very senior doctor with connection in the medical council. Elsewhere he would have been sued and stripped of his licence.

  8. With reference to comments made by analyser, muma john and him?

Dr Manda was a great Doctor and like every human being he had weaknesses. The fact remains he contributed to improving the health of a lot of Zambians. He was also not afraid to speak his mind for the greater good. How many people can openly criticise government to improve services. He was passionate about improving the health of the Zambian people. I find it rather disgusting that some people will dare to question his competence. Pull him down syndrome even in death shuwa. How will we progress as a nation. Be grateful!!
