Zango Youth Consortium has commended Vice President Inonge Wina for demonstrating true leadership when she apology in Parliament over Patriotic Front (PF) Secretary General Davies Chama’s remarks against the people of Southern Province.

Zango Youth Consortium Chairperson, Kayimbo Katengo said Mrs Wina’s unreservedly appeal for forgiveness has shown that she is a pillar of wisdom and unity to both government and the nation at large.

Mr. Katengo has since called on politicians to desist from engaging in tribal politics and instead focus on issues that promote national unity and human development for all Zambians.

He also said the Vice President’s handling of the Copperbelt University (CBU) and ZNBC unionised workers strike demonstrates a remarkable leadership.

Mr. Katengo further said the consortium was also happy with Mrs Wina’s remarks at Ukusefya pa Ng’wena traditional ceremony where she called for national unity and love for each other under the umbrella of one Zambia One Nation.

Mr Katengo stated that the Vice President has demonstrated the best of Zambian women leadership capabilities in ascending to higher public office saying people should now have more confidence in women.

Meanwhile, Mr. Katengo said his organisation is impressed that Zambia’s diplomatic relations have extremely improved under President Edgar Lungu considering the many heads of state that have visited the country and those that have invited the republican President to visit their respective countries.

He observed that such interactions between heads of state stands to benefit Zambia as they are an avenue for exchange of technical knowledge.

And Southern Province Chiefs’ spokesperson Chief Chikanta has welcomed an apology to the people of Southern Province from the Patriotic Front (PF) party.

Chief Chikanta in an interview commended President Edgar Lungu for paying attention to their grievances when they visited him at State House.

“This is the right thing to do for government. We are happy the matter has been put to rest and we now need to forge ahead,” he said.

Chief Chikanta, who travelled to Kasama for the installation of the new Chitimukulu of the Bemba people, Henry Sosala, and the Ukusefya Pa Ng’wena ceremony, said before the alleged uttering of derogatory remarks by the PF secretary general Davies Chama, President Lungu was scheduled to visit Southern Province and tour development projects.

  1. YET WE ASK STILL WHERE IS THE PRESIDENT? THE CBU ISSUE IS CREATING A DOMINO EFFECT AND HAS THE POTENTIAL TO SPREAD QUICKLY AND WIDELY. LUNGU NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE NOW. WHERE IS THE PRESIDENT?

    • But why hasn’t that gun wielding thug Davies Chama apologized ? Is VP Inonge doing to apologize for Mumbi Phiri as well?

    • We have to agree that bung’ete cannot be laundered away by sitting in class and learning to speak English. Some tribes need serious communist-style re-education in how to be civilized in a multi – ethnic country. I am talking about you Bembas.

  2. Sometimes parents first apologize for the wrong acts of their children and THEN turn around and discipline the offending child.

However it pacifier those offended when they first discipline the child/children and thereafter apologize with an explanation of the disciplinary action already taken.

However, In this situation where Mr Chama has been treated as a sacred cow by the top brass in PF the VP’s courage is commended.

On discipline I miss President Kaunda.

  3. When Chief Chikanta says “we can now put this matter to rest” his subjects continue picking at the scars. Id1ots of Obatala nature will never get satisfaction from any attempt at peace. Some of you puerile loggers ought to do some growing up real quick and real soon. PF top shelf has apologized. Tonga Chiefs have accepted the apology. What then is your dumb arse to fart out dissent?
If you can’t accept logic, go pee into the ballot box in September 2016!!!

  4. MOST PEOPLE ARE NOT TOO CONCERNED ABOUT CHAMAS REMARKS. WE UNDERSTAND HIS SHORTCOMINGS AND CHARACTER. HIS LUCK OF CIVILITY IS EMBLEMATIC OF THE ORGANIZATION HE REPRESENTS AND HEADS. WE REALLY DONT NEED ANYMORE APOLOGIES ON THIS ISSUE. HOWEVER THE CBU ISSUE IS WHAT WE CARE ABOUT. THIS AFFECTS THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE MOST OF WHOM ARE MARE VICTIMS BECAUSE THEY HAPPEN TO BE STUDENTS. THAT IS WHAT WE CARE ABOUT. CHAMAS REMARKS THOUGH TRAGIC AND SAD, WE WILL DEAL WITH AT THE POLLS. LUNGU HOWEVER NEEDS TO ADDRESS THE CBU ISSUE NOW.

  5. Madam Inonge has shown exemplary maturity in conducting politics ever since she became Veep and that’s the reason, she has received only minimal criticism across the political spectrum.

  6. People who have known Bo Inonge through out tell about her courage & forthrightness. I remember her as NGOCC leader & her resoluteness. I have always admired her.
One blight in her career will be when she teetered after the death of MCS. She didn’t seem to know what to do until the wind blew her away.
I think when she looks back, there are so many regrets she has for decisions she didn’t make.

    • Mr Katengo, why is it hard for the offender to apologize? He has adamantly stated he is not tendering even an induced apology now or belatedly. You & Bo Inonge are just one. She comes from WP & you from Manyinga, Masumba Village, so ur Mbuya’s of Tongas. The issue is that Chama feels he is too big to apologize to Tongas & better their own Mbuya conveys the induced apology!

When it suits them including a certain Chief, they respect Inonge’s apology. But when Inonge says it’s not government position to fire striking workers her directive is just brushed aside by a junior, Kambilumbilu Kashimba who fires only one Maseka, coincidentally is also like you from NWP.
That shows Inonge is just a tool for their advancement! If ECL ceased 2b Presido 2day she’ll be bypassed “Ni party…

    • In fact Chama can even go on boasting that after all I never apologized personally. Remember this how Micheal Sata built his name in 1990s by being unnecessarily antagonistic. If you were old enough remember the Sinda Misale issue where Kaunda was accused of hiding imaginary guns! Chama is just building his name out of malice by being known to be “tough man, tough man, never apologetic”. Come 2016 he may even challenge ECL for power. After all he has failed to remove his own appointee.
