DEPUTY Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya has reassured the people of Southern Province that they will have equal access to quality healthcare services.

Dr Chilufya said the government is determined to provide quality and cost-effective healthcare services to all citizens regardless of their political affiliation and geographical location.

He said this in Choma on Wednesday when he paid a courtesy call on Southern Province Minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu.

“The Patriotic Front government is determined to ensure equitable access and cost effective health services as close to the people of Southern Province as possible and to this effect, we are building infrastructure to cover the whole continuum of care. We are building health posts countrywide,” Dr Chilufya said.

And Dr Chilufya said Government is impressed with the progress made on the construction of 99 health posts in Southern Province.

He said three of the 99 health posts, which are at superstructure stage, are scheduled for completion and commissioning next month.

He said the project is part of Government’s ambitious programme to build 650 health posts countrywide.

“We are happy to note that 31 substructures [foundation] have been completed and three superstructures have been completed, we expect the three that have been completed to be commissioned in October,” Dr Chilufya said.

He is also happy that the construction of phase one of district hospitals in Gwembe, Namwala and Kalomo have been completed.

Mr Mubukwanu said the construction of the 99 health posts in the region is a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to providing healthcare services to all citizens regardless of the political affiliation.

“The construction of the hospitals dispels assertions by politicians that this area [Southern Province] being predominantly an opposition stronghold is not having a fair share of healthcare but to the contrary there are a number of projects,” he said.

  1. They are tax paying citizens too, they deserve that, unless you suggesting that they stop paying taxes to the central government and revenue collected in that region is specifically used to develop that area, they will gladly accept.

  2. Tumfweko is down. It has been hacked by the pf chaps because I have managed to change it to a pro upnd website

  3. This is the problem of a heavily centralized govt. Why should it be the responsibility of the President to build a clinic in Siankope or a road in shang’ombo or a borehole in Lufwanyama. These are projects that can be done at local level according to need.
Its time serious devolution of power was done, not just creating districts.
Actually creation of districts without devolution of power just increases pressure on central govt.

  4. My skin cringes every time I look at that simplicity clinic we ourselves can not construct but having to rely on Indians to assemble the whole thing on our soil..surely four walls and a roof…yet that lazy bum in State House is recklessly throwing borrowed money all over the place.
These small 650 health posts are being assembled and equipped via an India Exim Bank loan meaning they are promoting the Indian manufacturing sector..we simply have to pay back the loan with interest…what is there to be proud of??

  5. NO! please don’t tell me that in the background is the so called health posts these PFool chaps are bragging about, i thought it is a guard house, and the minister went to inspect that little thing, he would have delegated that the area councillor, probably he has even drawn some allowance for that, enjoying himself at some shopping mall, if he is a gunner even some leisure time at some exclusive lodge, while some nicompoop keeps shouting ifintu……

  6. NO! someone tell that is a guard house, please, if i was that minister i would delegate, the area councillor, probably he was just interested in drawing some allowance, for the weekend at one the shopping malls and if he is a gunner some leisure time at some exclusive lodge.

  7. Ba UPND you should appreciate instead of criticizing a govt which is doing so well in your province.Your hate and jealousy will never win you votes.ECL is busy working and the whole country is appreciating.

  8. @haleisa alelila in 2016

Look at the good township roads in Monze and Choma……We saw on TV that nice modern hospital in remote Gweembe two days ago but these chaps do not appreciate the govt. Its high time these resources are given to people who can at least say thanx even for a day.
