Dear Sir,

Re: Personal Attacks from PF leadership

I note with serious disquiet the manner in which you and your government officials are handling important national issues affecting the people. At a time like this when the country is going through serious challenges, the Zambian people are left wondering what your administration is doing in office.

As the Movement for Multiparty Democracy, we have in the last few weeks highlighted very important national issues that are affecting all of us the Zambian people. We have gone further and provided solutions to some of those difficult problems. We have been very friendly in advising your office based on the experience we gained while in government over 20 years.

We remind you that the misfortunes this country is currently going through are your responsibility as head of state and you have to deal with them without constantly blaming the lack of results on external “global” factors. Zambians elected you to produce results and not to pass the buck. You may wish to know that the Prime Minister of Australia has just been voted out for failure to deal with national challenges.

The arrogant reactions from your party Secretary General Mr. Davis Chama and your Media and Publicity Committee Vice Chairperson Mr. Sunday Chanda are not surprising to us but shows that your administration has no intentions of dealing with the problems facing our people. This is partly the reason why this country is where it is now. When people behave like this, it shows a serious lack of leadership on your part Mr. President. Your officials keep avoiding the main issues I have been raising and are instead attacking me personally in what appears to be a well calculated character-assassination scheme. Personal attacks on me will not solve the problems the Zambian people are languishing with.

Zambians across the country are going for more than half the day without electricity in their homes and they are failing to plan their lives properly. The dismal performance of the Kwacha against major international currencies has affected businesses in the country with most small scale business houses putting their operations on hold as the environment is not conducive for them. Thousands of miners have just lost their jobs within the last few days due to failure of leadership in your office Mr President. Many young people in Zambia are still on the streets even after graduating from higher learning institutions, despite your party winning elections on the platform of providing more jobs. I think the people who voted for you want to see more action from you than reacting to those advising you on how to deal with these issues.

In the face of all these challenges, your chief past-time is by-elections and traveling abroad. I wish to remind you that when we bring out these issues to you, it is because we are concerned about the lives of the fifteen million Zambians who put you in power. We are not merely politicking but dealing with important national issues. Just in case the people around you have not told you the truth, things are very bad and people are not happy with your administration.

Most Zambians are failing to put a decent meal on the table and this will haunt you if you decide to turn a blind eye to the cries of innocent people whose country is blessed with abundance of natural resources.

We see lack of seriousness on your part to deal with the issues that have put Zambians in abject poverty. You were voted in as president for the entire country and the least you could do is listen from the counsel of those that care about the people you are leading. Gather courage and hold a press conference and answer questions from the people. You need to stop pushing your officials to defend the indefensible and attack noble people with good intentions.

Zambia is bigger than the Patriotic Front. Ignoring our advice is digging your own grave. We speak from experience. Your stooges and henchmen will not be there when the time comes in 2016 for you to be held accountable for the suffering of Zambians who voted for you.

We will not stop talking and advising your administration. The economy of this country has collapsed from the time you took over office merely eight months ago and your combative leadership style is not helping the situation Mr. President. The people you are leading are not foolish and they will rise against you next year.

I advise you to take a deep introspection and listen to those not close to you. Listen to people telling you the truth and not your “muzungu anikonde” praise singers. Those same people will abandon you in 2016 and start attacking you, leaving you looking like a destitute.

Finally, I advise you to seek guidance from God and seek wise counsel before our people start dying from hunger.

Sincerely,

Dr. Nevers Sekwila Mumba
MMD President

  1. Yaaba ati in 2016 Lungu like a destitute.
PF should wake-up and realise that Davis Chama has probably costed them 30 % cotes already. That man is more than an idyyot.

    • Pastor Mumba, learn from Jesus Christ, He was insulted but He didn`t answer back. Moreover the Bible says
we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against Satan and evil spirits. Pastor Mumba , your role is to exhort
people during difficult times like this one and then teach them to depend upon God. The Bible says, woe to those who depend upon man. By the way, pastor Mumba when are you going to call for a big crusade?

By the grace of God, Zambia shall be saved.

  2. MMD are the people who put us in this mess in the first place with the dependence on the taxes of one major export commodity.
Fully privatising everything without leaving any say in our biggest industry. Zambia is such a rich nation and for 20 years, we could have diversified into many other industries.
All these politicians are the same. All of them. Recycling and jumping from one ship to the other

    • Nevers is right only one who is passive in reasoning will condemn him. He is not taking from the blues but from the realities. I know all who opposes such kind of counsel are PF bakalyafye when they do not understand the out come.

  3. The Australian pm was removed so that they can have their gay rights in place. Abott was against this evil and it has costed his job not what you are insinuating ba mumba.

    • @ Sponge bob at least it reveals that the Australians are issue based and depending on how they feel about an issue it can weigh in on how an election will turn out. Can the same be said of Zambia? Dr Mumba from the out set of his letter is talking about issue based politicking than personal attacks and insults, thus if Zambians were focussed like their Australian counterparts the weaknesses of Lungu such as embracing the lack of civility in the likes of Chama and Chanda would cost him his presidency at the next election.

  4. Mr mumba Sir, you are the biggest culprit by attacking president Lungu especially over zambezi mp saga. The president kept quiet so no you want to provoke him again thru the media. As a man of God why dont you approach the president with civility and talk to him face to face rather than playing to the gallery like you are doing.

  5. Much as I equally hate the ways of PF, I find this counsel from the Man of God to be poorly crafted. If Mr Mumba really intended to advise the president as he purports to, he should have structured his letter more diplomatically. He should have opened and closed it by acknowledging Lungu’s positives (to win his confidence and immobilize his defensive mechanism), eg point to infrastructure devt and even cite the engineering feat called Mongu-Kalabo road. The body of the work should then have drawn Lungu’s attention to areas dearly requiring MORE improvement and attention, all done tactfully by omitting such irritating phrases as “your pastime is elections” or “Zambia is bigger than PF,” this merely states the obvious and simply waxes his ears even more – never lose your prey. I…

    • @Chalo…you cracked my ribs..Lungu’s positives! How much Jameson did you take or was it something stronger. ordinarily we elect president to do the right things and he should not at anytime be thanked for doing his job. He gets paid for it. Anyhow my rating for Lungu is 0/10. He is the worst president we have ever had. Mwanawasa was a more accomplished lawyer and he made a difference. Now we have a visionless wannabe

    • @ Obatala Jemasoni Lungu Shedding indeed many people do not follow that the PF has no program of their own and are merely implementing what the MMD started and were yet to continue implementing. Now PF has hijacked the MMD plans as their own without really explaining why RB has become their darling. RB is there to help guide the implementation strategies that the MMD had, we all know admittedly of no plans and vision of country by PF, thus Obatala I am also at loss of Lungu’s positives.

  6. This is a timely advice to our president.I think learn from bene rupiah bwezani Banda,it will help you understand what Nevers has highlighted.Nevers is not perfect but he has said the truth on this one.The people of Zambia are suffering and it will be a suicide to ignore that fact.

  7. While I accept what Chalo Nkhanza has written but on the other hand I want to side with Nevers mumba’s reason of writteing a strong letter to lungu which is less diplomatic.1.the PF leaders do not listen to advice given from a diplomatic angle, they have kaponya type of mentality, which requires strong language. Most PF leaders including Lungu have never worked for government before and have spent a lot of time in opposition under stressfull condition, hence they are used to hard talk.

  8. Can someone help me to understand please, where are the solutions from this letter, all what am able to read are attacks on President Lungu, I can not see any Solution nor advice here to challenges Zambia is facing, all I see is arrogance from Pastor Mumba, If this is what all other opposition presidents write to the Republican President in private, then we should forget completely and have nothing to do with them. Can you Pastor Mumba please offer solution on ZESCO, Kwacha, Jobs, than crying like a street kid without solutions.

    • He did that in the first article. He outlines all the challenges and provided an action plan to get out of the mess we are currently in. So no excuse, BWANA PF.

  9. I suggest President Mumba reads Martin Luther King Jnr’s Letter From Birmingham Jail to see how to win over your arch rivals. It does not matter that they won’t listen to you at the word go, but keep drumming it into them. You mean well. The suffering masses (including beleaguer Lungu himself) owe it to people with a voice – HH, Nevers and all – to speak to the govt for all of us. But when you spice your counsel with scorn you lose your target, aim and God-sent opportunity to save Zambia for us. Yes, tempers are very high, but leave it to us cadres to shoot with poisoned arrows; yours is a sacred duty to be done with civility. Otherwise keep at it ba Nevers and team, drown out the stench filthy from the Kambwilis of this world. As for the rest of us, we are sharpening our voter’s…

  10. Pastor mumbas solutions include pulling down UTH and build a new and modern hospital. Give back ZAMTEL to lapgreen . i wonder if that company still exists. His failures include not listening when he was fore warned that RB was coming. Again not listening when forewarned that His MP was about to defect during filing of nominations. Surely is this the man we want as commander in chief.

  11. Lungu is not the worst president, Sata was the worst president! Lungu
will be the second worst president followed by Rupiya. So Lungu is still
doing okay because he is not the worst President.

  12. Sir Obatala, you cracked my ribs too. The Jameson wasn’t that strong really, it must be the sun’s heat doing the most damage. Back to business, we did not create an infallible being when we (or they) voted ECL into office, he remains very much human and so still very much susceptible to error of judgment. Therefore all leaders worth the salt have an avowed moral duty to shepherd him onto the right course, more so that he was, perhaps still is, a self-confessed ‘visionless’ individual. It would be a fatal error to leave him to fail simply because he beat us to the vote. He fails, Zambia goes down with him. A toast to Mother Zambia, if you relish sharing my Jameson.

  13. Nevers isnhere advising and the PF s doing what they know best. Sending attack dogs on the man on God. Its up to you if he starts dangerous prayers against you. Listen and learn from those who came before you. Bravo man of God.

  14. Maybe the man of God is now proving to be the solution to our many problems. MMD needs to do a lot of work. Otherwise the country is in big trouble

  15. At least this is proof of efforts by the opposition to dialogue in a variety of forms. Its apparent Nevers can have a reference point its now up to the president to give the citizenry the privilege of response as transparently as Nevers has done either as an open letter or press conference!

  16. I am wondering now what has happened to the Man of God.He has been going to State house, attend all Govt.programs.Man of God do not change your goal post His HE Lungu is in secure driving seat.Ala makumbi yalapita. He will carry the day trust me come 2016

  17. This is to all you who mean to dismiss Nevers simply because he is a ‘culprit’ or belonged to a past govt with a poor reference point. The moral of the story is this: In dire times like these, the mountain should also listen to anthills. For example, if it means we all go to the Zambezi Source to piss into the Zambezi to drive the ZESCO machines (turbines) to full load, MMD urine should be welcomed too. Efyo iya.

  18. From a neutral and honest point of view and for sake of full sincere truth that will not only help the president deliver, but also help him safeguard his reign, I endorse Dr Mumba’s advice that the president should not only drown his ears in the songs of those he has directly put on the payroll. Probably, there could be also distinct cries From his loyal and genuine friends who have the edge to decide who he will be come next power struggle . Naselako babombeko mukwai.
