PATRIOTIC FRONT (PF) THANKS ZAMBIANS FOR RALLYING TOGETHER BEYOND PARTISAN AND DENOMINATIONAL LINES TO PRAY FOR THE NATION

Lusaka, Zambia, 20th October 2015 – Patriotic Front (PF) wishes to thank the people of Zambia from all walks of life who took time to heed His Excellency President Edgar Lungu’s call for National Prayers, Fasting and Reconciliation on 18th October 2015. This day was also important in allowing the Church in the country to play its significant prophetic role as a unifier and voice of wisdom. We also commend President Lungu for reaffirming that Zambia shall remain a Christian Nation and for declaring 18th October as national public holiday for prayer.

While others chose to ridicule prayers that Zambians in all the 10 Provinces offered to God on 18th October, 2015, the nation must remain steadfast and continue to hold God’s word as truth. Certain sections of local and international media have questioned the rationale behind the National Prayers and questioned the change that can come out of those prayers. Some of these media houses have criticized President Lungu and accused him of imposing God on Zambians because according to them, not every Zambian believes in God or the same God. What they have not told Zambians however is the name and kind of God they believe in. We can attest that President Lungu and his Government remain unashamed of the profound decision to recognize God’s place in the life of the nation.

Further, Zambians must not be ashamed that they humbled themselves before God to pray for a country they love despite manouvers by those who attempted to reduce National Prayers to cheap political rhetoric. We wish to appeal to all those who aspire to lead Zambians to value the place of God in the life of the nation. By the very nature and character of the nation, Zambia cannot be led by a leader whose faith in God remains highly questionable. Zambia cannot afford to have leaders who subvert the word of God and undermine the power and relevance of prayer. It is therefore important for all who seek to lead Zambia to develop a relationship with God otherwise their ambitions remain not unattainable because all leadership comes from Him.

We have therefore grateful to God that Zambia has a leader who recognizes and reveres the Lordship of Jesus Christ over the nation. It is not by coincidence that against all odds, President Lungu got elected to Office on 20th January 2015. We ask the church and Christians across the country to continue praying for President Lungu and his Government. Zambia may pass through challenges just like any other nation, but it is our faith and hope in God that will see us through both low valley and high mountain situations.

Lastly, we wish to appeal to the Church and Christians in the country that 18th October must not be an end in itself. The words of scripture encourages us all to pray without ceasing.

    • I wait to see if the PF will stop violence, will respect rule of law, give access of opposition to public media.I am sure Edgar watches ZNBC,is he happy with what he sees? Let us see true reconciliation…but I can bet Sunday, Mumbi Phiri, Davies Chama and Kambwili will be the first one to start insults

    • Reconciliation can’t happen in a vacuum. If you have a garden, you have to go dig, plant, water and nurture the plant until time of harvest. You can’t just be waking up every morning go to the garden and pray for crops to grow without doing anything on your part. What I saw with the national day of prayers is a joke. Rather, the PF and its leadership should have asked the people they perceive to be at odd to come together, share their grievances, reconcile and then agree on something they needed done differently moving forward. Learn from the truth commission of SA; it was practical. The President should have been in the forefront taking a strong stand towards these goals by getting rid of the perpetrators of violence, tribalism and corruption, including stopping these unnecessary…

  1. IT ALL COMES TO WHO SHOULD BE GIVEN A CREDIT. ONCE YOU SAY PF IS TO PRAISED FOR THE PRAYERS, THEN ALL WHO WHERE ON THEIR KNEES OFFERED THEIR PRAYERS TO AN IDLE AND NOT GOD. IT IS NOT ABOUT 2 CHRONICLES 7:14, BUT ALSO IT TAKES ONE WHO IS A LEADERS TO HAVE FEAR OF THE LORD. WHAT IF I HEAR SOME POLITICIANS IN PF START INSULTS, HURTING OTHER TRIBES LIKE WHAT CHISHIMBA KAMBWILI CALLED HH? I WILL ASK GOD TO FORGIVE ME THAT, THAT DAY WE THOUGHT WE KNELT BEFORE YOU AND YET WE OFFERED OUR PRAYERS TO A BEAST.
(ISAIAH 59:1-2, ROMANS 12:1-2) WE NEED TRANSFORMED LEADERS WHO CAN ACCEPT THEIR MISTAKES AND LEARN FROM OTHERS.

  2. Ok So whats Next, Mopani has to lay off workers because you haven’t addressed issues and thousands of small business are laying off workers and shutting doors. What’s next Enough we have prayed so we waiting

  3. Comment:pliz pipo those prayers were nt 4 pf dey were 4 zambians y do u pipo frm opposition say dat u shud jst accept wat zambians hs side God z on us zambians nt on pf bt zambians may God bless dis national.

    • ..this is what the opposition where talking about ….hidden agenda…we don’t need PF ‘thank you’…either Kambwili as Govt spokes person or the VP should have issued this statement…

  4. Prayer cannot be a substitute for honesty, hard work and fairness. Even a hyena can pray but let me tell you at the end of the day it still remains a hyena. So the nation of lazy men and women went to pray with their lazy hypocritical leaders, so what?! Youll still remain stupid ,lazy people who will wallow in poverty.

  5. PF thanks all fools who participated in prayer and fasting? Isn’t this what we are bring told here? Thought this was national. …alas not! What a fallacy! Gee!

  6. But ba UPND!!
    Iyo nimwe!!
Why are you sounding as though you have come out hurt from those prayers? You negativity seems to have increased a notch.
Calm Down Banee, it is JEHOVAH GOD we prayed to. Let Him deal with us the Best way He wants. Not by man’s way and thought.
God Bless You and God Bless Mother Zambia.
