Zambia’s CHAN qualification elates Hachipuka

Former international midfielder Kebby Hachipuka says Zambia must aspire to win the Rwanda 2016 CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN)
after ending a six-year drought from the competition.

Zambia on Sunday qualified to the CHAN tournament after a 1-1 draw with Mozambique in Maputo to qualify via a 4-1 aggregate score line.

This is Zambia’s first CHAN qualification since 2009 when they finished third at the inaugural tournament in Cote d’Ivoire before
failing to the reach the 2011 and 2014 events.

Hachipuka, who captained Zambia to winning bronze at the inaugural event in 2009, said George Lwandamina’s boys are capable of winning
gold in Rwanda.

“I am the happiest that we have qualified but the team needs to work extra hard because the challenge which is there is to win gold or
silver,” the Green Eagles assistant coach said.

“With the experienced technical bench I believe the boys can do wonders,” he said.

Draws for the tournament to be held from January 17 to February 7 will be held on November 18 in the host city Kigali.

“We should be going forward every time we participate in these tournaments. Like at the Africa Cup in 2010 we reached the quarter
finals and in 2012 we passed quarter finals and won it,” Hachipuka noted.

  1. Surely this Hachipuka is too minor to be used as a headline…….You guys you have run out of opinion makers to start using no brand names to change the opinion of the Zambian people.
