Power Dynamos’ chances of playing continental football next year remains slim after they stayed third on the FAZ Super Division table despite thumping Green Eagles 3-1 at Arthur Davies Stadium on Wednesday.

Power who now sits on 54 points are still three points behind second placed Zanaco who thrashed demoted National Assembly 4-1 in one of the Week 28 midweek games.

Ten man Power cruised to a comfortable victory with goals from skipper Christopher Munthali, striker Martin Phiri and defender Govenda Simwala.

The home side led after two minutes with Munthali slotting in Phiri’s pass from close range to beat Eagles keeper Aaron Nyirenda.

Twenty minutes later Phiri turned from provider to scorer when he beat his marker in the box before shaking the net with a low shot.

Power took a 2-0 lead into the break before Govende Simwala completed the rout with a long range effort that Nyirenda spilled into his own net on 78 minutes.

It took Eagles 85 minutes to find a consolation goal via a penalty converted by late substitute Mwila Phiri.

Kabwe referee Allan Simukonda pointed to the spot after Power midfielder Thomas Nyirenda handled in the box.

The handball earned Nyirenda a second yellow and a red card.
