Blackpool bounce back to Super Division

Mufulira Blackpool on Sunday ended a 16-year absence from the FAZ Super Division by securing promotion on the final day of the Division One North campaign after thumping Chindwin Sentries 5-0 at John Kachofa Stadium.

The huge victory ensured that Blackpool finished second in Division One North with 63 points from 34 games.

A superior goal difference of +25 separated Blackpool and Kalulushi Kalulushi Modern Stars who also finished the season with 63 points but a had a goal difference of +23 after beating Ndola United 1-0 on the same day.

Coach Weston Mumba’s Blackpool scored 48 goals and allowed 23 while their closest rivals Kalulushi registered 43 goals and conceded 20.

Meanwhile, Blackpool’s decisive match against Chindwin started 40 minutes late owing to the alleged late arrival of the visiting side in Mufulira.

On the pitch, Charles Chomba’s hat-trick and a brace by Innocent Mwansa propelled Blackpool to the emphatic victory.

The Mufulira outfit joins Division On North champions Lumwana Radiants on the promotion.

  1. Match fixing at it’s best. Suddenly Blackpool can manage to score 9 goals in two games. The game started 40 minutes late simply to facilitate Blackpool officials to get fillers from the Kalulushi Modern Stars Versus Ndola United game and thereafter advised accordingly. If you think I am bluffing, prior to Blackpool playing their final game against Chindwin Sentries, they played Ndeni and suspiciously beat them 4 goals to 0.

    • awe ba kalulushi m stars mwafililwefye, why didnt you also fix? it was no just your season? pool, pool pool pool pool pool

  2. Yes we failed to win promotion to super league but if you critically follow events you will agree with me that there is something terribly wrong going on behind doors. And the effects of this is being felt at National level where we are evening failing to beat teams like Namibia. We will soon end up with a situation where you will be buying everything for players. Boots, jerseys, paying allowances and to spice it all, buy games

  3. Comment: In every battle there are strategies to use if u want to come out a victor. In this case kalulushi m/ stars fc had no game plan, they were playing as if they have already been promoted while black pool had a game plan. They knew that winning with less than four goals will give chance to kalulushi fc. Their aim was to score as many goals as possible and that is what they did.

  4. Yashani amawala; my team is just cool. Mufulira …here we come! mukose nokukosa … Mighty on one side and Black pool on the other!!!

  5. The coming of Mufulira Blackpool to the super league signifies the soccer revolution which is going on in Mufulira at present.
Blackpool is not a street team but a National Team we will ensure that they remain in the league forever.Like Mighty At Shinde,Kachofa will raise another Alex Chola And Kaushi Kaodi.

  6. Eyaaaaaaaaa! Elyo bola yawama nomba. Blackpool tubikepo na Mighty! Bushe mwetwana twamu Mufulira do you know how great your town is?
