Mayuka marks Metz return with goal in Cup win

Share

Zambia striker Emmanuel Mayuka on Friday marked his return to competitive action following his recent recovery from injury with a goal.

Mayuka scored one goal in French Ligue 2 club Metz’s 3-1 away win over lower tier club Montceau in a Coupe de France 8th round match.

The striker had prior to Friday’s match been out of action for five weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury on October 3.

Mayuka found the target in the 57th minute to make up for his 6th minute tame shot and played the full 90 minutes for Metz.

This was Mayuka’s second goal in six competitive games for Metz since joining the French club on a permanent move from English Premiership side Southampton.

  1. Why waste space on finished players who have lamentable failed to perform in top leagues…this is what happens when you cheap your age!!

    • Ba Jay Jay naimwe just focus on your Kalusha and FAZ, leave our Mayuka and Mbesuma to us.
Jacob,Mayuka, Mbesuma, Kalaba, Chivuta all made smart moves by joining teams they can top the skill.

    • Mayuka was at Southampton, that’s were he should have created an impact like one Sadio Mané. Mbesuma was also there. I wonder whether Southampton will ever hire a Zambian footballer. And the greatest footballer we have ever had is an underachiever in the name of Galu – who has never won any medal of international recognition. As Zambians, we continue praising mediocrity in every sphere of out lives. That’s why we end up with the kind of politicians we have, starting from the top. We need to push our bars to a higher level in everything that we do!

    • @ Neo-Patriot – You are absolutely spot on …Mane was initially scared of the physicality of the premiership but dug his heels and pulled through another example is the Ghanaian Ayew brothers at Swansea and Aston Villa or Kenyan Victor Wanyama they are influential and permanent first team player BUT in Zambia we praise amateurishness and laziness to the point where even give them space. You can not say Mayuka never played in Europe when he played for Young Boys. Look at Sunzu the boy has wasted his time and career.

  2. Keep it up my man work hard the sky is not the limit get fit we need you at CAN and WorldCup you as topman Katengo as number 10 and King David filling the hole behind the two of you most defenders will dance the net will ripple….LETS GO ZAMBIA

  3. Lol, iwe ka jay jay ulekwata amano.nishi akuchita Mayuka? waba ichimutwe ubokulu!!!!!!! Job well done Mayuka. we need you!!!

    • Championship is better and clubs are well sponsored and players are well paid £5000+/week …Mayuka is so so useless even the English Championship clubs didn’t come knocking on Southampton’s door when he was available.
