Opposition Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) President Edith Nawakwi has charged that it is not worthy commenting on president Edgar Lungu’s commissioning of the 750 megawatts kafue gorge lower hydro power plant.

When contacted for a comment by Pan African Radio staffer Hermit Hachilonde, the agitated Ms. Nawakwi pleaded with the reporter not to interview her on meaningless projects.

She said it is a sheer waste of time to be commenting on the haphazard projects being launched by president Lungu and the PF government.

The opposition leader further advised Mr. Hachilonde to be seeking newsworthy comments from her which she claims are abundant.

“am saying come to me for better news, so don’t come for me for Edgar Lungu’s “chipante-pante” stories. “waumfwa” you have a lot time to come and get important news. The man is dreaming every time! He went to Kasama and said the mealie-meal is now k45, so I do not want to comment on things I cannot see, I was there I just arrived yesterday, ok, thank you! Edith Nawakwi said”

On 28th November, 2015 president Lungu launched a 750Mw power generation plant worth US2m in Kafue to cushion the current power deficit the nation is grappling with.

By the virtue of being former energy minister under Chiluba administration, Ms. Nawakwi has come under severe criticism by some sections of society for not having done enough while she was in charge.

Therefore, Pan African radio deemed it necessary to seek a comment from the FDD leader.

  1. WHAT NAWAKWI IS ALANGIZA SHE HAS NO SOLUTIONS SHE WAS IN KASAMA AND CONDEMNED THE SOLAR MILLING PLANTS WITHOUT FINDING EVEN AT THE MAIN MARKET THE COST OF GRINDING MAIZE. SHE BUYS HER MEALIE MEAL FROM SHOPRITE.
AS FOR ENERGY THE SIMPLE QUESTION IS WHAT DID NAWAKI DO WHEN SHE WAS ENERGY MINISTER AND WHERE IS THE HUSBAND

  2. That is arrogance at its worst from a person who seeks high office.
If you ask me what I think of Nawakwi, I want to paraphrase what she said about Edgar. But I beg your forgiveness for using crude language to make a point, I m not so uncivilised:

“…..I am saying come to me for better news, so don’t come for me for Edith Nawakwi’s ‘chipante-pante’ stories. ‘Waumfwa’ you have a lot of time to come and get important news. The woman is dreaming every time!…..
But you can understand her problem, she has been criticising everybody (Edgar Lungu), but now she sees that Edgar is doing what she should have done all those years when she was Energy Minister, and worse still a fellow woman, less educated but much more intelligent, no less than our very own Hon Dora is leading the…

  3. But you can understand Nawakwi’s problem, thinking that she is a clever and educated woman, she has been criticising everybody (Edgar Lungu). But now the tide has turned, she sees that Edgar is doing what she should have done all those years when she was (Energy) Minister in MMD, and worse still a fellow woman, less educated but much more intelligent and much smarter, no less than our very own beloved Hon Dora is leading the process of transforming Zambia’s electricity sector……awe Nawakwi just cannot stand the shame and the jealous, and there she goes on a senseless defense……kikikikikikikiki

  4. Enter Dora, Nawakwi is reduced to a sack: But you can understand Nawakwi’s problem, thinking that she is a clever and educated woman, she has been criticising everybody (Edgar Lungu).

  5. Imwe leave madam hambulo alone…ninshi pantu? The woman doesn’t want to comment but the journalist was clever, he still found something newsworthy about her refusal to comment. That’s the best comment u can ever give if u dnt want to be quoted is no comment chapwa.. So wat the madam did ws commenting but off tangent.. Awe ba hermit mulibakali bosses.. That’s good and creative journalism. Thumbs up !

  6. Nawakwi is very very right. Commenting on the good that Lungu is doing is not worth it because Nawakwi risks to be irrelevant if she comments on the good that is being done. She only becomes relevant when she has to comment on negative things, such as Job losses price increase on essential commodities etc. When the Govt is doing a commendable job such as commissioning power plants and planning to cub load shading etc. then Nawakwi must just shut-up because it is not worth for her to comment.

  7. This Edgar just went to Kafue have free beers. What launch; may be call it re-launch! All Zambians apart from Dora and the other PF faggots like fatherless Bwalya know about this [project. These projects need feasibility studies and you don’t just jump on them like a bar woman!
Dora is an expert at misleading people and she did this to big Dad RB.

  8. Someone says Dora is less educated but we all know she has a master’s, then they also ask where is Edith’s hubby. Another fool will ask where is Dora’s, Nkandu’s, etc, hubby. Well what’s the relevance of such questions. Where is Tasila’s mother? How does that change the loadshedding, kwacha depreciation? But then what do you expect from visionless drunks? Thinking with their small d!cks.

  9. Comment:nawaki is wise thn other oposition members she tlks when it is due not mere talk to show your being opposition moveover she contributes to the helping of citizwns unlike others. mama keep talking sense than useless opposing

  10. She probably thinks like a mathematician studying problems and solving them to their logical conclusion, when loadshedding started it was all about water levels but now the story has changed abit to that of previous govts neglecting the sector, how wud u respond to a journalist?

  11. The Minister honourable perhaps challenged all of us includn the president that if loadsheddn was anything outside water levels he wud resign, paradox is if rains ar unpredictable even gud efforts like PF turns sour, those blaming nawakwis rethink,
