A LETTER published by the Post Newspaper purportedly authored by special assistant to the President for press and public relations Amos Chanda over a Zesco tender to STAG African Renewable Energy has turned out to be a forgery.

The Ministry of Energy and Water Development has disclosed that it had not received any instructions from Mr Chanda to consider awarding a Zesco Power Purchase Agreement tender to a company called STAG African Renewable Energy.

Ministry of Energy and Water Development Permanent Secretary Emelda Chola told the Daily Nation that it was not true that Mr Chanda had authored a letter directing her ministry to award a Zesco Power Purchase Agreement tender to a company allegedly linked to prominent Lusaka lawyer Lewis Mosho.

Brigadier General Chola said she had personally tried to check for the letter at the ministry registry but had not found it and concluded that there had never been such a letter.

She said she had not received the letter nor seen the contents and had only read about the purported letter from the Post Newspaper which claimed the letter had been authored and signed by Mr Chanda. She said although the Ministry of Energy was in the process of awarding a Zesco Power Purchase Agreement tender, STAG African Renewable Energy was not among the companies that were being considered for the contract.

“It is not true that Mr Chanda has written a letter to the ministry directing that the Zesco Power Purchase Agreement tender should be given to STAG African Renewable Energy tender.

“I have not seen the letter nor have I seen the contents unless it is still on the way. In any case, there is a process but STAG African Renewable Energy is not even there.

“I personally checked for the letter in the registry after I read the story and it had not been delivered. Maybe talk to Mr Chanda if he has written such a letter,” Brig Gen Chola said.

And sources have told the Daily Nation that it was not possible for Mr Chanda to have authored a letter directing the Ministry of Energy to award a Zesco Power Purchase Agreement tender to STAG African Renewable Energy and was shocked that the Post Newspaper had published a detailed contract letter which he had never written.

The source said the levels of desperation by the Post Newspaper to discredit and scandalize the presidency in a bid to influence regime change had grown to dangerous levels of alarming the country with perilous motives.

“That letter is a forgery and we know it because it would not be the first time for the Post to be involved in such dirty schemes. Mr Chanda could certainly not have authored the letter to any ministry on any matter because he understands how the presidency operates. We know the newspaper has an agenda to discredit and scandalize the presidency and that is why they can publish story based on a letter that was forged.

“We know they are desperate to discredit and scandalize the presidency but their levels of desperation have reached dangerous levels,” the source explained.

However, freedom of expression does best when it is controlled by self-discipline, by deference and respect for others. And some of the media houses have some clever fools who because of freedom of expression have become champions of snapping, snarling and the use of foul language without any restraint whatsoever, and they have therefore become swollen-headed as the unchallenged heroes of sarcasm.” Henry K. • But all these mud from state house. Why forgeries, lies, Kaizers now Chanda. Whom do they work for, why their boss never respected?

    • BUT Chanda is silent AND no serious person believes him anyway!! Check with the fellow African Diplomatic community and you know that NO ONE believes the statements he issues. Worse even with Lungu’s pronouncements!

  1. A forged letter or a non existent letter? Please someone explain . MMD Chiefboolicker says confirmation is at the moment they start denying.

    • @itizi turu: I totally agree with you!! Emelda Chola MUST BE extremely careful because people wont entertain any of that kind of sh.it any more! What is happening to Masebo will be done to her 10 times in the next 8 months – she is NOT the owner of that ministry. It is id.iots like Chola taking our country backwards….we are all watching!!

  2. This Emelda Chola whatever her name must be very dull. Who in his or her right frame of mind can keep such a letter or record in the registry when they know that what they have done constitutes a crime? Can a thief keep a record of their theft in a common office? People should learn to shut up when they don’t have something sensible to say other than making a fool of themselves like that.

Very dull. Do you think that such an incriminating letter can be kept in the registry? Every thief try as much as they can to cover their tracks.

    • @ Vizungu
All official Govt Letters go through the registry same as title deeds, but, what happens afterwards? Please try to remember “Commission of Inquiry Into the Operations of the ZRA”. Where is the letter from the Minister of Finance to Commissioner General?
      Idiocy or ……………?

  4. Amos must have written that letter, otherwise the post could have not published the story without facts….realisation had hit these pf buddies and they are now covering up!!! Watch the space….post, watchdog expose them…..

  5. LUNGU WILL BE FINISHED BY THESE THUGS AND THEN LEAVE HIM ALONE. PLEASE WHY IS THE PRESIDENT LETTING SUCH THUGS IN LEADERSHIP?
