Police in Lusaka has summoned veteran Politician Vernon Mwaanga over allegations that he urged opposition parties to be on the lookout for possible rigging of the August 11th general elections.
Dr Mwaanga confirmed in an interview that four police officers visited him at his residence around 18:03 on Wednesday who brought a “call out.”
He revealed that the officers requested that he reports himself to the police on Thursday but that he informed them that he preferred Friday to allow him time to meet his lawyers.
“At 18 03 hrs this evening, 13th January, 2016, i was visited at my house No 6741 Akashambatwa Road, Olympia Extension by 4 police officers in plain clothes from the Zambia Police Service, Lusaka District Criminal Investigation Division, led by Senior Supt Chiwala Choongo, who brought a “call out” for me to report to the District Criminal Investigation Officer, tomorrow at 14 hrs for an “interview”. I told them that tomorrow Thursday was not possible, but that i preferred Friday at 09 hrs, to give me time to find a lawyer or lawyers to escort me. This is now the agreed time and date for the “interview,” Dr Mwaanga said.
Some pro government figures such as Bowman Lusambo and Cosmo Mumba have petitioned the Zambia Police Service demanding that Dr Mwaanga is arrested for allegedly insinuating that the 2016 polls might be rigged.
And when is tribalist Kambwili ever going to be summoned for the more dangerous tribal comments he made which could have incited violence? His very divisive comments were hateful and dangerous, so who shold even be summoned?
Kambwili’s comments were criminal. But VJ merely stated the FACTs, because it is a FACT that previous govts including the PF in 2015 rigged the presidential elections including in CHAWAMA. The records are there at ECZ and the evidence all there for all to see.
