Veteran Politician Vernon Mwaanga has observed that the amended constitution still contains very troubling provisions which have the potential to create misunderstandings and confusion going forward.
He says Zambia has not yet come up with a people driven constitution, leaving open the issue of the constitution being reopened in future.
In a statement issued to QFM News today, Dr. Mwaanga says there are burning issues that require to be seriously addressed in the interest of holding free, fair, transparent, credible and democratic elections.
He notes that part of the problem with political leaders in Zambia is that they have not invested in genuine constitutional, economic and political dialogue to jointly come up with viable solutions to national problems.
And Dr. Mwaanga says it was surprising to see the country’s meager public resources being spent on an extravagant constitution assenting ceremony when nation is facing economic challenges.
He states that this is especially that it is not the first time Zambia is amending the republican constitution having done so in 1991 and 1996.
People like VJ they are the one who should be last to about this issue. In fact EL has even done better for us about this issue and yes it’s not perfect but it’s a good start

What happened to the same so called commission applauded by the same VJ and the billions of Kwacha invested to arrive at the so called draft. Remaining items will be addressed in the Referendum for now we have the most important items taken care of.

I think mr mwaanga should learn to shut his mouth. Edgar has done extremely well on the constitution.He has done what the 5 past presidents failed to do in less than a year. What is he talking about? No wonder kambwili thinks some of these guys are mud.He worked under 4 administrations but what did he do?
Well, pipo will take time to understand wat it takes to have a pipo driven constitution. Though Mwaanga’s observation is genuine, many who hold different views will still criticise him.
@4.zambians are lazy in reading.so they only comment on hear say or wht the politicians say without analysing the constitution.yes alot has to be done for zambia to have a pipo driven constitution.in the amended consti.the president still has the same powers like b4 in all govt apptms ,judiciary,parastal companies,and he still can create ministries at will.

VJ is a spent force…the tricks he used to do in a one party system and in MMD have caught up with him and now wants to rise again now using the unprincipled UPND. This is the same UPND which beat him up when he attempted to attend a burial for the late Mr Mazoka
