A UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) parliamentarian has praised Government for implementing various infrastructure projects in his area of which many have successfully been completed while others were underway.

Vitalis Mooya, a Member of Parliament for Moomba Constituency in Monze, Southern Province, is impressed that, through the projects, the local people were accessing employment opportunities.

Mr Mooya was happy that more than 60 per cent of the Constituency was connected to the national electricity power grid by the Rural Electrification Authority (REA), out of which many public institutions such as schools and health centres, had benefited.

He said in an interview yesterday that construction of the first-ever Kaumba Boarding Secondary School was close to completion stage and would be commissioned in June this year.

“On behalf of the people of Moomba Constituency, I am very happy with massive developmental projects Government has taken in our area. I am one of the happiest MPs because these projects are positively changing the lives of local people,” he said.

Once completed, the high school, which would be the only higher learning institution in Moomba, would reduce long distances pupils cover to access higher education.

Such development would also reduce cases of school drop-out and child-marriages, which were on the increase in the Constituency.

On the health sector, he said Muunyu Mabisi had become the first-ever health post among the 99 under construction in Southern Province to be completed and was commissioned by Health Deputy Minister Chitalu Chilufya a few months ago.

Other health posts in the area were Munjika and Nkambo health facilities, which had reached more than 90 per cent completion point, while another, Bwala was at slab-level.

He said that besides the four health posts, four old ones, Choona, Mwanza-Njola, Moomba, and Kaumba health facilities were functioning well and would supplement the new ones in providing quality health
care services to people.

“When I say I am a happy MP, this is what I am referring to because since Independence, we have had no such developmental projects in my Constituency,” he said.

He was confident that, by 2030, Moomba would have more modern infrastructure projects, thereby reducing poverty levels.

    • Zambia is for all Zambians, let our politicians share the national cake equally, cause we’re all brothers and sisters regardless of tribe. Once again, I call upon the leaders of PF and UPND to bring an end to political violence before it gets out of hand. One Zambia One Nation.

    • I have always known Mr. Mooya to be a down to earth person. He has set an example of how all Zambians are supposed to work together for the common good of the Zambian people. Differing in ideologies does not mean we are enemies. I am happy that for the first time an opposition MP is praising the government of the day for work well done. Instead of condemning everything government does give praise where it is due and if you feel your party can do better then just say so. Well done Mr. Mooya.

    • There is a problem somewhere UPND appreciating what the Government is doing and he is an MP!!!? This man deserves better, the first of its kind. We the Zambians will pray for you so that you are not harmed by the wrath of the UPND GOD. May the good Lord cover you with his precious blood.

  1. you cant pretend for ever. PF has performed beyond our expectation. Hon Mooya God bless you. Its better to stand for truth than HH

  2. HONESTY PEOPLE LIKE MR. MOOYA DESERVES GOODNESS. U CAN’T KEEP ON CONDEMNING THE GOOD EFFORTS OF OTHERS FOR POLITICAL EXPEDIENCE AND EXPECT GOODNESS. AT LEAST SOME SENSIBLE MP FROM UPND FOR A CHANGE.

  3. This statement will irk a few people.
Some will even say he is looking for a job in PF.

    • MR MOOYA IS JUST ONE HONEST TONGA WHO IS BLIND TO POLITICAL BELONG. I DON’T LIVE IN ZAMBIA BUT EVEN THEN I FEEL THE FULL EFFECTS OF PF WORKS AND FOR THAT MATTER SOME OF THE PEOPLE WHO REPORT TO ME ABOUT THE DRASTIC DEVELOPMENTS IN ZAMBIA ARE TSWANAS WHO KNOW ZAMBIA VERY WELL. AND WHEN I GO ON THE INERNET (WITH PATIENCE OF COURSE) I SEE A LOT OF THINGS WHICH WERE NOT THERE ONLY FEW YEARS AGO. ANZATU, PF, HAS DONE A LOT AND LET’S BE DESCENT TO GIVE PRAISE WHERE IT’S DUE. THE LAST TIME I WAS IN ZAMBIA WAS 2009. I COULDN’T BELIEVE THE PATHETIC CONDITIONS OF OUR ROADS. BUT, I SEE NOW ALL THE ROADS I TRAVELED ON ARE TARRED. REALLY, HOW CAN I CONDEMN, PF?

  4. So this UPND MP will vote for PF? Why then doesn’t he join PF? Sounds contradictory, his actions and statement are in total disagreement with each other. Is everything okay in his cranium? I leave this paradox to experts in mental science, specifically psychiatrists. If this man is not insane show me how it is possible to act the way he is and still be classified normal? Wait, may be there’s something wrong with me?

    • He is just acknowledging the fact that a lot of projects in his constituency have been successfully executed. This does not mean he is a PF sympathizer and there is nothing contradictory with this statement either. Being in opposition does not mean you have to bury your head in the sand.

  5. The same story in Mwense Constituency of Luapula Province, 2 clinics are about to be commissioned, a hospital is about 90% complete, a boarding school is almost complete, a Trades Training School is about to open not to mention the roads.

    ECL AVANCÉE!!!

  6. They have eyes but they cant see and when it comes to voting they wil vote for the devil becouse they belong to the devil.LOOK IWE WANZELU ZABUPUBA what the wise mp is saying viva EL, ABUSH SHONONGO

  7. They have eyes but they cant see and when it comes to voting they wil vote for the devil becouse they belong to the devil.LOOK IWE WANZELU ZABUPUBA what the wise mp is saying viva EL, ABUSH SHONONGO .

  8. That is spirit that will build out nation… there is a difference between government and party reason why all parties should acknowledge and support government… This is an excellent example.. He is not looking for a job just stating facts.. if you don’t see the difference therein lies the problem of our great nation…

  9. Is HH happy about what his MP has agreed that PF is really working? I wont be surprised to hear that he has been fired from UPND.

  10. Honorable Moomba, you have a lot major projects to convince PF that they are leaving up to their promises. You need to convincee PF to expand the airstrip in Monze to an airport. Remember Monze is half way Lusaka or Livingstone and people would like to fly to these places to cut distance. Monze will be a central place for tourists going to Namwala, Siavonga and Sinazongwe. Convince PF to upgrade Monze agricultural college to Southern Province Agricultural University (ASUP). Go for things that will stimulate the economy in that area. It seems Honorable Moomba is going to vote PF come August.

    • IF HE VOTES FOR PF, SO IT BE. BUT, THE MAN WASN’T EVEN POLITICAL WHEN HE WAS LAYING FACTS OF DEVELOPMENTS IN HIS CONSTITUENCY. HE WAS IN FACT VERY CIVIL AND JUST STATING HIS HAPPINESS. ACCUSING HIM OF SAYING HE WILL VOTE FOR PF IS JUST BEING UTTER STVVP!D. HOWEVER, IF THERE’S ONE THING UPND CHAPS HATE, IS THE TRUTH. THEY ARE VERY ALLERGIC TO THE TRUTH. GO PF GO. DEVELOP THE COUNTRY. WE NEED A DEVELOPED ZAMBIA.

  11. Honorable Mooya is acknowledging some level of developments in his patch and not Zambia or Southern province. Fairly stated and needs commendation. On the other hand, if he/we say the Zambian economy is mismanaged due to poor leadership attracts vile comments like rubbing salt on sores. Truth will always hurt liars.

    • YEAH! BECAUSE THE POOR PERFOMANCE OF ZAMBIA’S ECONOMY IS NOT CAUSED BY ZAMBIA. THIS IS A GLOBAL TREND. EVERY COUNTRY IS PASSING THROUGH WHAT ZAMBIA IS GOINNG THROUGH. WORSE STILL ZAMBIA AS THE PRESIDENT PUT IT IN PARIS EXPORTS JOBS- RAW COPPER. AND THE MAJOR BUY OF THAT RAW COPPER WHO IS ZAMBIAS MAJOR ECONOMIC PARTNER- CHINA HAS BEEN FACING ECONOMIC SLUMP WHICH HAS AFFECTED ZAMBIA. THIS IS BECAUSE CHINA SLOWED OR STOPPED BUYING COPPER FROM WHICH HUGE GOVT REVENUE COMES.

  12. Ati “Tell the truth and shame the d…. Critics are dumbfounded. They have no words against Hon. Mooya because he has told the truth. Well done Honorable.

  13. Great one Mr.Mooya! We need such type of Leadership because when you praise what is good and condemn what is bad, people will listen to your advice as it will be seen to be balanced! But when a leader only sees negatives in whatever their opponent does,we can say they are consumed with hatred. With what you have said if another time I hear you give advice on what PF can do better and where they have failed I will listen to you wholeheartedly and take it as “mature and constructive opposition” aimed at improving our country. We cannot as a nation stay fixated in finding only the “bad in us” and amplifying it at the expense of the “good we are and doing” which we can improve to excellence. Mwambaula masimpe!Twalumbaa kapati Ba daala!

  14. Indeed BaHonMooya, well said.As someone has stated already, you are able to advise the government objectively and many people will a thundirous applause. From your comment, you have acknowledged what has been and it impacts on the population, objectively argued and on the other hand, you have noted that there is still a lot to be done, balanced advice!!!!Any sane person criticizing your comments does not work for the people.Natulumba kapati mukwai,Leza alemipaala efilitei

  15. This man is old and poor, he wants a job from lungu. I’m sure he was told that he won’t be adopted by upnd hence the panic. He is just lying. When were those projects started? Was it ecl or mcs(mhsrip) or lpm(mhsrip). Don’t just commend anyhow. Yes it is good to call a spade a spade but it’s wiser to state whose credit it is.

    • @26 haajanika, IT IS NOT SURPRISING THAT YOU HAVE A DIFFERENT VIEW OF HONOURABLE MOOYA’S SENTIMENTS/EXPRESSIONS. ALL WE CAN SAY IS : “PANSAKA TAPASHOTA MASHILU”. YOU ARE JUST SATISFYING THE FACT.

    • @haajanika,who ever started or completed, the fact is something has been done and people are benefiting. Giving credit to PF for starting or finishing projects is right thinking because as government they could have switched priorities to other areas. If these projects were started by another govt but completed by PF the very reason to thank them since starting is even easier than to carry the project along to completion! They are in charge and thus can direct the movement of resources. Whether he is old or poor, the fact is he is WISE,OBJECTIVE and has demonstrated LEADERSHIP on this matter and he has been in this case a TRUE REPRESENTATIVE of his people!

  16. Oh this is the first fresh air I have breathed politically after a long time.

I’am very impressed honourable that you are fit to be called honourable. People who carry the title of honourable should at all times talk facts and not just innuendos.

Whether from the ruling party or opposition, say something sensible not utter day dreaming comments.
I have come to learn one thing, the wise talk very little while empty tins make a lot of noise.

  17. Honourable Mooya is one of the very few UPND MPs who talk sense even in parliament, he is a civil engineer by proffesion and gives very good advice to govt on infrastructure development. But offcourse a few disgrantled UPND cadres like @haajanika will vilify him because they dont want to hear anything to do with PF because of bitterness and envy. Well done mr Mooya.

  18. Excellent comment Honorable Mooya and for sure you are equally a hard worker, who has been able serve your constituency very well. It is important to be truthful even when you are in the opposition; you don’t just oppose anything – It is actually the truth that sets people free. Although I don’t live in Zambia (I’ve travelled by road twice from RSA through Botswana in the recent past) I have noticed some massive infrastructural development in the last 3/4 years, especially with our roads, clinics, schools, hospitals, etc, which never used to be the case in the past. PF indeed has worked with vigour and speed hence a well-meaning commendation from a matured opposition member. I salute you sir and we need more of such leaders. God bless President Lungu, his leadership and Zambia as a whole…

  19. Am staying there some of the projects started in MMD and because he was Mooya was pushing that is why there are completing .

  20. WHO SAYS TONGAS ARE TRIBALISTS? LISTEN TO HON MOOYA!
That is a leader worth his sort. We are born leaders others once in a while can be “rulers”. Seen the difference? Our time is coming soon, but never with HH. BB (The Anti-HH Campaign Militant)

  21. honarable I feel pit for u I don’t know what this mansonsit will do to u together with his worshipers the likes of c..mwitwa and others when they trouble u plz tell off we need somewhere
