Food samples collected from some streets of Lusaka to ascertain the possible presence of faecal coliform and vibrio cholera contamination have shown positive results.
The samples were collected by the Lusaka City Council through the Department of Public Health and submitted to the Food and Drugs Control laboratory for routine analysis.
The samples collected include, goat meat, pork sausage, fried chicken, fried Hungarian sausage, fried fish, fresh fish and fritters.
And the analysis which has been compiled by the Food and Drugs Control laboratory indicates the presence of faecal coliform and vibrio cholera in the goat meat, fried Hungarian sausage, fresh fish and fritters.
Council Spokesman Mulunda Habeenzu has since urged the public to avoid as much as possible buying food stuffs on the street.
Mr Habeenzu said the Council further wishes to remind the public to observe basic hygienic behaviours including the necessity of systematic hand-washing with soap after using the toilet and before handling food or eating, as well as safe preparation and conservation of food.
Cleanliness is a joint responsibility….let’s all keep Zambia clean and stop liter please

That is PF development. Apparently they have borrowed a total of $900 million dollars in the name of lusaka water and sanitation. Cholera is to show for that money.

Guys, that street looks terribly dirty!! What a shame. Why are we even still entertaining street vending? To get votes!! This is pathetic. Its everyone’s responsibility to keep the streets clean. But then again, the Government of the day needs to implement law and order. Remove street vendors and half the job is done. I want a leader who wont take nonsense on issues like crime, tribalism, street vending, gay rights, corruption and pure laziness from Ministers and civil servants.
Just go to any Zambian Embassy worldwide. Its the exact lazy, useless staff and dirty environment just like you are in Zambia. Those guys still take lunch breaks from 11am and never return for work until the next day. Its literally sickening.
People will always buy from the cheapest & nearest kantemba. The best way is to kick those tuntembas of the streets.
Voters will always be there, so to think that if you kick those guys of the streets you lose votes is a fallacy.
Like I have said before these are not decisions that should be made by state house. These are decisions for our city fathers. DECENTLISE NOW.

Some of us have followed his or her postings and he/she is consistent where cleanness in Lusaka is concerned. You are the kind of people who think it is ok to live with fifth. PF and Lungu are the cause for the mess in in Lusaka and other towns. Who should people blame? Lungu and PF are in charge of the filthy sinking ship.

GRZ must take the lead role in cleaning not only thinking of looting eurobonds. No sane citizen should allow them selves to be ruled by this PF and live in this filth. How can the government of the day leave everything to citizens without them doing anything about cleaning?. They are busy harrassing UPND youths at a gym even presenting a golf club as a military weapon used for illegal training.
