Congo steal draw against Zambia

Zambia were denied their first home win in Group E when they drew at home with Congo-Brazzaville.

Congo came from behind to finish 1-1 with Zambia at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola to maintain the status quo in Group E.

Zambia are without a home win at Levy in Group E since last June when they finish 0-0 with Guinea Bissau in their opening group E match.

Meanwhile, the first half ended scoreless butZambia could have taken the lead in the 44th minute but Nathan sinkala’s shot came off the post.

Zambia then took the lead in the 60th minute when Winston Kalengo swept passed Congo’s defense to fire in the opener from a tight angle.

However, Jordan Massengo equalised in the 76th minute after some poor defending by the homeside.

Zambia were later denied a potential winner in the 88th minute when Rainford Kalaba’s goal was disallowed.

Congo and Zambia stayed 1st and 2nd respectively tied on 5 points while Guinea Bissau are 3rd on 4 points after beating Kenya 1-0 in Bissau.

  1. Am glad i didnt travel results like this are painful on your way back to lusaka. EL looked fit with kamanga on his side. too bad for the draw,

    • What kind of international match which is FREE.. since when did FAZ ever fail to sell tickets, only this match. FAZ always sold tickets to full stadium, even Pivoty Simwanza got rich from selling those chinese jerseys. But today… Yangu tata Lesa. Mwaka wa nsala twali pengele!!
People/ Fans where not interested to go to watch and support Kamanga and Lungu on empty stomachs. PF’ Lungu tried by all means to offer freeeeeee entry, only a quarter of stadium filled.
      SADNESS

    • 1.Your Kitchen or Chicken Coach ,had no tactics at all,Even if it was obvious that the right flank was porous,he did nothing.Malunga was just walking through the defence.
      2.The Defence was rubbish.
3.Zambia will be massacred in Pont Noire.5-0
4.FAZ must immediately engage an expatriate coach.
5.Congo are the ones who will qualify from the group.Guines will be second and Kenya last.

  2. @ Mwiponta Mukabwela, what has Kamanga done with this results? 2 days in leadership and you want him to perform miracles?
In fact this team was prepared by your great Kalu.

    • Zambia won AFCON because they where excited with “Don’t Kubeba … ASHHHH!” of Sata winning, with Guy Scott present. It was just after new leader, Sata.
If your Kamanga & Simataa were liked, Ndola would have been painted orange, like in the Kalusha days. But today was the saddest match ever played at Mwanawasa stadium.

  3. As bad as a loss. Only the group winner qualifies so you can’t afford to be dropping points at home. We need a full time coach yesterday

  4. Players played with no confidence in kamanga. He thought dishing out money like in a nigerian movie will bring good results. Now will see if you will qualify for africa cup. Kalu left faz having won the historical 2012 afcon. Are going to see it with ba dealer? Money can motivate but you need to be tacticle. Its not a nigerian movie, its fooball

    • Don’t worry we will qualify. Haven’t you heard that it wasn’t kalusha and Renard who made us win 2012 but God? We don’t need Kamanga just some prayers and we will be home and dry

  5. Personally I want this team to fail because of the stupidity of you Zambians. How do you replace Kalu with this Kamanga who failed at Warriors and was fired at Power. Ama jelousy bashetani mwema Zambians mulemwenako

    • No my brother don’t be like JJ who wished Zambia bad just because he had a bone to pick with Great Kalu. Zambias success is what we should be fighting for come rain come sunshine come Kalu come Kamanga

  6. Let’s support the boys and this new administration…we are going somewhere..let’s also keep Kamanga honest so they are transparent and accountable in their dealings!!

  7. ..our boys just lack seriousness, fitness and game intelligence compounded with lack of individual skills and brilliance….any winning team must have atleast 2 or 3 reliable stars….I don’t see any in our squad…when you talk of Barca, Messi or Neymar come to mind…..which player or players really come to mind when you talk of Zambia….non at the moment

  8. Nostradamus please find something to do with your life. Your are so irritating surely.

  9. Zambian strikers are goal shy. I hope its gonna be a different story in Congo.

  10. This game was tough and I hope the technical bench will seal all loop holes that were noted. I enjoyed watching the game because it produced two goes and that excited me. No ma BP. I am certain we will cause an upset in the return game on Sunday. in Congo Branzaville. I hope those ba Tetele will not take the match to Point Noire where they facilities are below par for visiting teams. KIchen Gojii Kilandamina and tech bench will make some tactical changes to their approach to the return game. Its clear that the Congolese new coach “French Soccer Mercenary” does not want to disappoint his new employers and will deploy every coaching tactic to ensure Congo beats Zambia. Guys should dies a bit for Zambia and players should coordinate and ensure whoever is in good position passed the ball to…

  11. JUST FORGET ABOUT ALL THOSE SAYING BAD THINGS ABOUT KAMANGA , THE MAN HAS JUST STARTED WORKING YOU CAN NOT BLEM HIM FOR NATIONAL TEAM POOR PERFORMANCE . GRAPES ARE SOUR NOW NO WONDER THEY ARE BITTER DUE TO KALUSHA DEFEAT ,GIVE KAMANGA ENOUGH TIME HE WILL BRING THE REQUIRED RESULTS

  12. I dont support kamanga but am behind the Zambia national soccer team despite the draw we encountered on wed. I hope for the best in Congo on Sunday
