George Lwandamina is disappointed his charges could not pick up the 3 points against Congo-Brazzaville on Wednesday.

Zambia threw away a 1-0 second half lead to finish 1-1 at home against Congo in the two sides’ 2017 Africa Cup Group E qualifier played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

The result left Zambia still second in Group E but tied with Congo on 5 points with an inferior goal difference against the latter.

“Definitely we cannot be happy with the draw, everyone wanted a win,” Lwandamina said.

“I am sure the players are also not happy so it will be a motivating factor that will drive us from this game.

“The main objective is we qualify to the finals and having said that I am sure we are still on course.”

Winston Kalengo put Zambia ahead on the hour mark before Jordan Massengo equalized in the 76th minute.

The draw left Zambia still in 2nd place and tied with leaders Congo on 5 points who have a superior goal difference.

Zambia head to Brazzaville on Friday ahead of Sunday’s final leg of their Group E doubleheader to decide the leadership in Group E heading into June’s penultimate round of matches.

  1. With the exception Kalaba, Kalengo and Sunzu, the rest of the players are useless. The earlier we realised that Zambia does not have good players at the moment, the better. Zambian players are not just good enough.

  2. The time Kalaba will realize that as Iniesta is to Barcelona in distributing balls to strikers so is he to our nation team then we will begin scoring goals. If Iniesta will behave the way Kalaba behaved yesterday Barcelona will not have Messi, Neymar and Suarezi bagging in goals the way they do. How many times did Kalaba have opportunities to make a cutting pass to Mbesuma or Kalengo but opted to shoot. His shooting which are either predicatable by the goal keeper or wide or over the bar. See the goal Kalengo scored , if such kind of passes were done more in the first half Zambia would have buried that game with atleast 3 goals in the first half. Also the coach shouldn’t made such a line up to just fine katongo a place. If he feels Katongo deserves to be in the first line the he should…

  3. If he feels Katongo deserves to be in the first line up, then he should put him on the correct position and not make someone appear like hedoesn’t know what he is doing in the pitch, its not right.

  4. I don’t know what training with a team for over a week & then playing last minute arrivals does to moral in the camp. Kennedy Mweene was luck he was covered well, the guy is near the end of his shelf life. Then why do we always lose concentration after scoring. Check most draws at Levy Mwanawasa. Food for thought Chicken George.

  5. Football is best run by footballer with additional skills in business. Running football with only managerial skill is not enough. Do it like the american way of doing things. Do your specialisation then add MBA on top. The obvious mistake of removing katongo was made because he had no one to consult but only a business executive.

  6. @Kant you will continue being haunted for supporting Kalu. Wake up!

Ghana has a lawyer as FA President but they even reached World Cup. So in your own thinking you expect miracles only from Kalu yet the same President of yours presided over a goalless draw against Guinea Bissau. Dreamers!

  7. Tomato, tomato balunda saladi nayo.. Yadula!!!
    Kanshi twipusheko ubuteko.?????
Efyo tule lusa nabola, kumulandu wansala…..

-Well something like that, just remembered the song

  8. It will be goodbye to afcon if the coach doesn’t read his game well. He should have passed clear instructions to the Kalabas Katongos on what they were supposed to do when they had the ball. Pass it to Kalengo or Mbesuma unless you have a clear chance at goal. That is teamwork. Don’t go acting like superman when your abilities are mortal.
And Kamanga should stop disturbing the camp as he knows nothing about football. He was just disturbing the camp. Dont imitate your predecessor. Have your own style. Most FA bosses don’t visit camp. Kalusha had a psychological role in camp because the boys already knew him as a great footballer so his presence was inspiring.

  9. Technically congo better than us,they planned for us and they knew danger players in our team whom they made sure were put out of play
