FORMER Southern Province Permanent Secretary Gladys Kristafor, whose husband Stan Kristafor endorsed HH in 2015 elections, has urged women in Zambia to rally behind President Edgar Lungu because of his genuine desire to promote and uplift women.

Ms Kristafor, who is one of the aspiring candidates for the Livingstone Parliamentary seat under the ruling Patriotic Front (PF), said there was need for females to support President Lungu he had a lot of respect for them.

She said it was historic in Zambia for the Head of State to reserve 40 per cent of all leadership positions to women.

Ms Kristafor was speaking at Linda Community School Hall in Livingstone on Wednesday during a PF mobilisation meeting attended by scores of ruling party officials from the Constituency and Wards.

“Only a person with wise heart and a genuine desire to lead the nation effectively can come out in the open to reserve 40 per cent of all leadership positions to women.

“There is nothing above a mother’s love and a woman’s commitment to see that her household is in order. I am therefore challenging women from every walk of life to take up this opportunity to rally behind Mr Lungu. As women, we should be proud of this position by the Head of State,” she said.

She said her party had started massive mobilisation of women and other voters in Livingstone to ensure that the parliamentary seat, which is currently being held by PF’s Lawrence Evans, was retained in this year’s elections.

“We want to mobilise many people and introduce a new generation of respect and unity in politics.

“There is an ongoing massive mobilisation going on in all the 17 wards of Livingstone. PF is a force to reckon that is why we are still seeing investments coming to Zambia regardless of the economic hardships,” Ms Kristafor said.

She said many people were currently being attracted to the attractive policies of the ruling PF.

“Many people have kept coming in numbers because they have seen substance in PF policies and programmes.

“They are encouraged to come to PF because of its good governance record and continued developmental projects agenda in the whole country. The agenda is making sense and we have seen the implementation of policies in line with the PF manifesto and Government programmes for development,” she said.

Ms Kristafor urged Zambians to be very patriotic and honest because they had seen what was happening in terms of development.

She said President Lungu, who was the first President in Zambia to appoint a female Vice President Inonge Wina, was committed to ensure Zambia moved forward in terms of development.

“Our President has begun a massive exercise where we are seeing massive infrastructure development such as roads, hospitals, clinics, schools and airports among others across the country.

“A nation cannot develop without roads and other infrastructure. Infrastructure is key in opening up rural areas for development,” she said.

She also urged Zambians to respect the Head of State saying she was tired of insults targeted at the President in the media.
“It is so painful and I have never seen the whole world where people are insulting the Republican President.

“Let’s have respect for the President whether we like it or not because he was duly elected. It is against Christian values or norms to insult a Republican President,” she said.

  1. ..has her corruption case been disposed off…??…the problem is that everyone is busy siting things anyone else can do….appointing of women can be achieved by anyone…constructions of infrastructure with borrowed money…anyone can do that….the real task is to uplift the standard of citizens…lower the cost of living, zero tolerance on corruption…maintain a sound FOREX reservoir…facilitate creation of jobs especially for the youth…while on the other hand the usual infrastructure is going on….a leader must be able to identify vibrant players to play for his team…to help him win….how vibrant can ABC, Kaingu, Kapata be..when Kapata talks its all about PF…nothing to do with tourism policy proposals bcoz she is totally blank about tourism…

  2. Hungry job seeker, trying to have her court cases quashed! No sane human will stick with a clueless, violent and incompetent party and its drunkard president. The so called development can be seen only by the PF cadres, where is it? We need economic managers with visionary leadership.

  3. Women in Zambia are the ones who are directly facing the poverty that President Lungu and the PF have inflicted on the ordinary citizens. Mealie meal now in many places is selling at K120 per 25kg from K50. Why should women in Zambia rally behind someone who has impoverished them? It simply doesn’t make sense! PF has failed!

  4. Seriously?!? Lungu is Kanene’s benefactor. Kanene’s has gotten away with murder for singing Chagwa a praise song. The worrying thing is that this is being said by a woman! Zambia, the Christian nation with battered women!

  5. WYNTER Kabimba says people must be careful with the choices they make on August 11 because they will end up with a government that is worse than PF. – , Kabimba cautioned Zambians against voting on impulse on August 11. “Zambians have voted in the past. Just going back to 1991, they voted out UNIP and brought in the MMD. At the end of the 20 years of the MMD, it proved to be worse than the UNIP government that they had voted out

  6. Common wisdom should be to give chance to new politicians and retain only those who have served one term or tried only once at winning the National Presidency, Membership of Parliament and Civil Leadership as Councillors. Genuine Leadership has no monopoly of individuals. If a person has tried severally to be elected and failed to win any election is confirmation that even God has not anointed such a candidate and is not blessed for elective office. But most probably such candidates could be blessed in economic and productive leadership outside politics. As for Madam Kristafor’s being aligned to the ACC Court Case. Wait until you get implicated in false accusations that is when you realise that not every allegation referred to ACC is true.

    • @Innocent Chimfumba. Trying for the Presidency a number of times and failing is no indication that God does not want you to be President. One of America’s greatest Presidents Abraham Lincoln tried four times before being successful. Have you heard of Disraeli in Britain who became PM in his late 70’s? Or Joseph in the bible who was a slave and a prisoner before becoming PM? If God has determined that HH should be President now, nothing will stop that. From the looks of things, that is how it seems it will be. ECL has just messed up the economy as well as his chances of retaining power. As for Madam Kristafor, let her first clear her name Mwith ACC otherwise pipo will think she is looking for an escape route by endorsing ECL!
