PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has said he had no influence in the adoption process of aspiring candidates in the forthcoming general elections.

President Lungu said he had no influence in the adoption process stating that the only people who knows about the adoption where members of Central Committee of the Patriotic Front (PF).

The President was speaking when he made a stop- over at Mfuwe International Airport enroute to Chama District yesterday.

Mr Lungu said he was dismayed that some individuals who have applied to contest on parliamentary and local government were using his name claiming that they have been sent to campaign in that particular area while not.

“I am fully aware that they are some people who have applied to contest some parliamentary and local government seats in the forthcoming general elections. These people are claiming that I am the one who have sent them, the truth is that is not the fact because I also went the Central Committee to adopt credible people to contest elections,” he said.

President Lungu said the Central Committee would scrutinise and adopt the best candidates based from recommendations from the lower organs.

He encouraged those who would not be adopted to feature on general elections to support those that are going to be adopted by the party.

He said those that would feel offended, should leave the party in order to allow harmony to prevail ahead of the general elections.

“I know that only one person is going to be adopted in every constituency to contest but I am encouraging those that are not going to be adopted not to be offended but support whoever is going to be adopted on that particular time. Those that are not going to be satisfied are free to leave the party,” he said.

President Lungu reiterated that some adoption processes had been marred with corruption which he said it must not happen in the ruling party.

He said he was chosen as party president in Kabwe without involving himself into corruption charging that corruption was bad.

The Head of State said party cadres should be on the forefront in promoting unity and peace in the country.

Mr Lungu has also advised United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema and MMD leader Dr Nevers Mumba to always promote the One Zambia, One Nation slogan which was aimed at fostering unity in the country.

He had never heard Mr Hichilema and Dr Mumba talking about One Zambia, One Nation motto during their meetings.

“I am advising Mr Hakainde Hichilema and Dr Nevers Mumba to always mention about One Zambia, One Nation which is a national motto,”he said.

The Head of State was met by Eastern Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Patrick Mwanawasa, Katete District Commissioner Joseph Makukula, assistant secretary Royd Tembo, party members and senior government officials.

    • Lifting of hands by people who where paid by the late W. Sanda is not corruption, Its good all the leaders know that as Zambians we do not think and we take in everything and forget easily.

    • The “one Zambia, one nation” slogan derived from the Barotseland Agreement 1964. The BA 64 is an international treaty between Barotseland & Northern Rhodesia so that the peoples of these two former British protectorates can be “one” under Zambia. Just like Tanganyika & Zanzibar =TANZANIA.
Unlike Zambia, Tanzania respects its union treaty with each state having its own parliament. Unfortunately, successive Zambian govts abrogated the independence treaty of Barotseland & Northern Rhodesia.
Now Lungu wants his opponents to sing the slogan dysfunctionally & rhetorically.
The BA 64 was about ONE ZAMBIA, TWO NATIONS, Barotseland & Northern Rhodesia, but alas!

    • No vision for sure.
Mr. Lungu said “he was chosen as~PF~ party president in Kabwe without involving himself into corruption charging that corruption is bad”. What Lungu means is that, there was corruption when he was “chosen” & not elected by lifting hands & pangas’ up, but denies his involvement in corruption at Kabwe. Was it Willie Nsanda or Inonge Wina? Can Mr. Lungu tell us those who were “involved in the corruption” at Kabwe.
The no vision PF must apologize to Dr Scott, & Miles Sampa who won the PF party president by the ballot & not lifting of hands with pangas’. The PF presidency was genuinely for Sampa but alas, pangas reigned supreme.

  1. But kwena mwali sala apa pena bana Zambia. This guy should be performing at Lusaka play house with Bob Nkosha

  2. CONTINUE insulting the head of State . Call him anything. Jameson , No Vision , and whatever you can think of. But for every insult made on President Lungu , know that there is an exponential opposite reaction. And that reaction will be seen on August 11, 2016. All the best with your insults. The Victory belongs to Edgar C Lungu.

  3. I am voting for Lungu! I don’t mind who you vote for it is your choice and I respect that. If you vote for HH and he wins even though I don’t like him I will call him my president and respect him. Viva ECL!!! Lawyer munzako!

  4. 12100% We Hard-core tribalists are the majority of people behind the UPND party. The tribalism tag cannot be wished way because they the Tonga have created a tribal tag for themselves whether it’s in work places or the communities where they live. Take Mr Magande for example he is the man that sourced funding to persecute bembas and easterners between 2001 and 2008. That agenda has not died; given a chance they will still persecute the two major tribes. Someone needs to apologise.

  5. When are we going to have a UPND Covention to elect a democrat ? For me if Sakwiba was president, the Party would have done better by now.HH will never see statehouse in a long time to come.

  6. Mr lungu and how credible is adopting your daughter who has spent more than half her life in the USA and only been in Zambia since you became president. Unfortunately, peoples docility is what results in where Zambians end up and the type of leaders they vote for.

  7. Comment:one zambia one nation. Despite of any political dimension we belong, we are all going to be ruled by only one president. So let’s just be cool wait for the day to come. Everything is going to be settled by the lord jesus christ.

  8. What motto when wherever he and his minions go, they are ever dividing this country. We can read through your lies baba and you won’t get away with it for so long.

  9. so he formed the PF party for him to be telling the people to leave party meaning he has adopted MMD friends in PF strongholds.

  10. IT WAS NOT EASY TO BE TRUSTED BY MCS IN PF, ECL MUST HAVE GONE UDER SCRUITNEY BOTH INSIDE OUT BY MCS AND WAS ZAMBIA`S LUCKIEST MAN TO ACT AS PRESIDENT INSTEAD OF GS, ITS REALY HARD TO UNDERSTAND THE TYPE OF FRIENDSHIP MCS HAD WITH GS FROM THE WAY THINGS TURNED OUT IN THE END OF 2014 BEFORE MCS`S PASSING. REST IN PEACE MCS, ZAMBIA`S EVER HEAVY WEIGHT POLITICIAN.
