Some suspected United Party for National Development (UPND) cadres in Kwacha Constituency yesterday harassed Patriotic Front (PF) members at Buchi Market by allegedly beating and insulting them.
The five PF members, who were attacked by the unknown UPND cadres, said they were conducting door-to-door campaigns when they were chased by UPND cadres who told them to leave the area they were operating from.
Speaking to ZANIS, Henry Nonde, who spoke on behalf of other members, said it was unfortunate that the UPND thugs attacked him and his colleagues during the door-to-door campaigns at houses near the market.
Mr Nonde said the UPND members told the PF members that they had no right to campaign in the area whilst the UPND was around the surrounding areas.
He said it was at this point that the unruly cadres from UPND started insulting the PF members who were calm and could not respond to the insults.
He said the PF campaigns did not retaliate when the UPND cadres started misbehaving by saying all sorts of things about the ruling party.
Mr Nonde further said the cadres descended on the PF members by pushing them around and throwing stones at them but they resisted and continued ignoring them.
Mr Nonde added that the unruly UPND cadres were shamed when the PF members just walked away without answering them and continued with their duties.
The center piece of the cartoon story ‘Asterix the Gaul’ is how one small village goes about beating up the Romans stationed around them; sometimes, too, there is brawling within the small village but the culmination is usually a huge feast with some bad singer either being gagged or grating the ears of the revelers no end. This seems to describe the mess going on in Zambia right now. Violence and senseless orgies after a perceived ‘victory’ of fists are the order of the day now. If we see how ridiculous this is perhaps some sense might prevail… Can we?

pf cadres dress in UPMD regalia which they have been confiscating and start harassing innocent victims so as to show that UPND is equally violent.This was also reported in Livingstone ,another pf strong hold.
pf is active in Nega Nega,Monze,Choma and Mazabuka etc.Their posters are still hanging.They have never been attacked since the campaigns begun because the UPND leadership have been resolute in preaching peaceful campaigns.What about the pf leadership?

UPND cadres just want to provoke fights and riots which they cannot win in Kopala, all in their now specialised effort to play victim. If the advisors are so called academics, doctors and professors, they are definitely half baked because if they had any brains they would not expose such rubbish and ignorance in the public domain, shameful indeed for a party that claims to have the only economic manager in the country. 1. Cost of building roads. UPND claims that the cost of building roads in Zambia is four times that in RSA. Now every sensible person knows that the economies of RSA and Zambia cannot be compared directly as to conclude vosts of building roads. If you want to use this as a campaign argument you must provide detail which can be analysed and examples of road and the specification. Otherwise you are telling lies as usual. In any case, knowing the desperatikn of UPND, they probably compared the cost of building an ordinary road in RSA with the cost of the Mongu- Kalabo road. Now every Zambian knows that that road is the most expensive road ever built in Zambia for obvious reasons. Should it have been built? Ask the residents if the area, they can answer for themselves and even tell you whom…

2. Time lines for some rosd projects. UPND have given start dates for some road projects which they claim shows that they were not started by PF by MMD. Mongu-Kalabo 1990/2006, and 2010 for Senanga-Sesheke, Pedicle, Nakonde-Mbala, Isoka-Muyombe, Luangwa bridge -Mwami border, Chipata-Mfuwe. Now UPND please lets use our heads even if we are desperate for power. You.must have economistscand engineers in your party. A road poject is first mooted, then surveys are done, designs, then the difficilt part is you find the money. This process can take years during which time the local or world economy fluctuates and government may change and you shift priorities and implentation. UPND quotes projects that were initiated by MMD as Itezhi tezhi 2006, Kafue Gorge Lower 2009, Lunzua 2010. Similarly as7 for roads MMD could have initiated but they had no money to implement or priorities wete on another project. The important thing is who found the money and actually implemented the projects? Again these projects take some five years or less to build. Clearly again PF came to power in 2011 and so the projects could only have been built under PF. But the funny one is for UPND to quite Kafue Gorge lower that it was started by MMD in 2009.
