UPND President Hakainde Hichilema has committed to work on the dilapidated water supply and sanitation services in densely populated areas such as Makululu in Kabwe and throughout Zambia.

Thousands of Kabwe residents gathered yesterday at Kabwe’s Comet grounds for the UPND rally where Mr. Hichilema explained that part of the UPND’s 10 Point Plan was to provide clean water to Zambians as a way of preventing diseases—such as cholera—which have increased greatly in their annual occurrence.

The UPND leader bemoaned the high levels of unemployment in Kabwe due to lack of industries in the area when it is supposed to be an industry hub owing to its geographical location. Mr. Hichilema said he was already in talks with credible investors that were willing to set up various value addition industries in the area as well as reopen the Mulungushi Textile industry that can also save farmers around the country through the cotton industry. He further reiterated his desire to diversify the economy through the agriculture sector by lowering the cost fertiliser and provision of more support to farmers such as increasing the fertiliser support programme.

In an effort to support small businesses including marketeers and bus drivers, Mr. Hichilema also committed to a greater provision of affordable credit and financing schemes that will make their businesses grow.

UPND Vice President for Administration and running mate Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba warned Zambians never to be misled by those who choose to insult the UPND leadership instead of speaking about real plans to help the people.

Former Vice President Dr. Guy Scott called on Zambians to remember part two of ‘donchi kubeba’—or taking anything the PF gives them but remembering to still vote for the UPND leadership. He complained about the discriminatory clauses in the new constitution such as a grade 12 requirement when the vast majority of Zambians cannot afford education.

UDF President Miles Sampa said Zambians are one people and must embrace each other and support the UPND, President Hakainde Hichilema and his leadership.

MMD President Dr. Nevers Mumba cautioned fellow Christians that were setting out to mislead Zambians by spreading falsehoods against other people.

  1. UPND headed for defeat. Was recently in Zambia and toured all provinces. This Sonta slogan is deadly and has gone viral. The opposition have failed to counter all the projects PF is undertaking country wide.

    • All thieves of the likes of Guy Scott, GBM, Miles Sampa who dished out 90 days promises have grouped under UPND to give 10 Point promises, never to fulfil. What does 77 year old guy Scott and his thieving wife from Wildlife wants to do more than that they have not done. Swine flue thief, privatisation thief, Zesco and Army thief and killer of Ruth have grouped under new Cartel.

    • ALL THE PF SLOGANS ARE VERY USELESS AND MEANINGLESS. “SONTA APO WA BOMBA” IS SUPPOSED TO BE A SLOGAN FOR THE OPPOSITION NOT FOR A RULING PARTY THAT HAS BEEN IN POWER FOR 5 YEARS. IT WOULD NOT MAKE SENSE TO ASK A VIRGIN GIRL WHO HAS NEVER SLEPT WITH A MAN BEFORE TO SHOW HER CHILD? “UMUNTU NI LUNGU”: IT IS AN INSULTING SLOGAN TO ZAMBIANS. IT IMPLIES THAT THE ONLY HUMAN BEING (UMUNTU) IN ZAMBIAN IS LUNGU, ALL THE OTHER ZAMBIANS ARE NOT HUMAN BEINGS (TE BANTU). THIS SLOGAN REMINDS ME OF THE UNIP SLOGAN: “KU MULU: LESA, PA NSHI: KAUNDA WA MUYAYA WA MUYAYA!” ZAMBIANS SHOULD THEMSELVES A FAVOUR TO VOTE OUT TYRANNICAL, BLASPHEMOUS DICTATOR WHO TAKES GOD FOR A TOOL TO BE USED IN HIS CAMPAIGN.

    • Cartel of liars, plunderers, killers, wife-beaters, slanderers,….You are just wasting your time and money…You are going nowhere!

    • So people will eat slogas now ? or shopping malls ? that’s the development Zambians know now. poverty is 99% in rural provinces in zed now. 5 more yrs under Pf is like been in jail whether you are guilty or not

  2. Guy scott shallow minded it’s about don’t kubeba it’s about working for the pipo. We don’t want the change which took place in 2011 full of promises of heaven & earth. Sorry to disappoint you mr guy & many but minority upnd that will no change in this year’s election

  3. the sonta powabomba slogan is useless because it is like asking your grown up son that where are your siblings meanwhere you know you have not officiated at his wedding and infact failed to pay for his dowary to his inlaws.

  4. These are all tired pitches and have been happening since independence but accelerated in blatant lies from 1991. Guys, let’s look for another way of governance. By the time these guys are done sharing positions and the treasury there is ALWAYS nothing left for national development. For now the infrastructure appears to have been developed against the wishes of the donors who always want us to be a few steps behind. Perhaps it is time to make a clean break from the jacket-and-tie mentality of leadership and get down and dirty. Is this the crew to do it though? I really doubt it, sincerely.

  5. The PF slogans should have been pointing to how they will sort out high bank interest rates, inflation, electricity deficit, high unemployment levels, farming etc not sontapo. It is a very weak slogans to people who are very analytical. But may be they know that most of their voters are illiterate and can’t realistically and objectively analyse things. Slogans should be futuristic telling people what you are going to do for them for the current problems they are facing. This will have been giving us hope that they are on top of things and the problems we are currently facing will be a thing of the past.
But to go to some one who is starving and tell them to sontapo instead of addressing his current hunger situation is vert tricky.

  6. Ati I will improve the delapilated water system in Kabwe and everywhere in the country, does this HH honestly think people are dull? Kabwe residents are in this mess today because this same HH sold all the mines and the industries there and today he thinks they have forgotten, really cheers chap hey?

  7. PF is certainly headed for a resounding defeat.UTH and other hospitals will need to have all available Doctors on-call on August the 13th.Cases of high BP,Stroke will dramatically increase.I say 13th because ECL won’t accept the initial result just as RB did. Madam Irene Mambilima will be in a very tight spot on August 12.
There is a big difference between Presidential By-elections and General Elections. The choice MP,Mayor or Ward has a big influence on the votes that go to the Presidential Candidates.Historical results are their to show the correlation.

  8. ‘… working on dilapidated water works in kabwe and throughout zambia’. this doesn’t mean anything unless one has a cryptic acceptance of balanced development. if hh doesn’t know the water situation in other parts of the country he shouldn’t even have made the statement. it becomes vague as it implicitly submits itself to the hard pointers on the ground. there’s tremendous improvement in water supply systems in most parts of the country and for kabwe and a few other places people must know it’s just a matter of time. no government would have done better in five years

  9. and what’s that we see with mr gbm, a stretched palm or a fist? or was the snap shot too fast for the heavy knuckled fingers?

  10. The battle gonna be tough; but it gonna be harder for PF. Does PF have a shadow party president on stand-by? I can not see the current party president holding the party together in the event of losing. If you want to know whether one has presidential qualities or not, picture that person being in opposition as a party president. If you picture him/her as not being able to lead a party in opposition, such a person is not a leader. Look at RB, he gave up the party presidency of MMD, only to resurface at time of election to try his luck again. Such are not leaders but chancers. I doubt if the current PF president can lead PF as opposition party. Far from it.

    • Don’t be cheated by these crowds… Even in the last elections, the man got crowds. Not knowing that most of them had never seen how he looks and all the wanted to see is his bitter face!! Some ar just underage kids. In these same areas, he lost terribly when PF strongholders never voted much coz they took for granted tha HH could never win. Meanwhile, in his home area, everybody, including cattle voted.

  11. Lies and more lies from the wife beaters’ club. The cycle of corruption in Zambian politics will never end. Sampa, Scott and Gross beater of Mothers (GBM) want vengeance against Lungu. It is a case of the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Poor judgement on HH’s part. It demonstrates how desperate he is for power. The only thing he will gain is skills on how to beat his wife and not face the law.

  12. Where are the original members of the UPND at these rallies? Why is it that you never see Nkombo, Mwiimbu, Mweetwa, Muntanga, Siakalima, etc at any of these rallies?

    • I have also been wondering but maybe they will appear in Southern, Western and North-Western Provinces. HH is trying new ones to woo the you know who

  13. what a rally…. it was massive. Go HH Go we will fight this little struggle for mother Zambia. no one can put out this fire and desire to liberate mother Zambian !!!.
to my fellow youths lets continue our fight. lets not use pangas, guns or stones to fight this struggle but rather our intellect and our vote. shake your neighbor make them see thru the propaganda and lies at play in our country today. My precious vote belongs to HH and who ever cares for the welfare of mother Zambia.
