Immediate past Kalomo Member of Parliament Request Muntanga has been put to rest at his farm in Mukwela area in Kalomo district.

Hundreds of mourners and dignitaries turned up to pay their last respects to Mr Muntanga who died at Lusaka’s UTH last week after suffering a stroke.
The funeral service was presided over by the Seventh Day Adventist Church Southern Zambia Conference Dr. Harrington Akombwa who delivered powerful words of comfort and encouragement, calling for peace and unity ahead of the upcoming general elections.

Reverend Akombwa also called politicians to put Zambia first and preserve the unity the country has enjoyed over the years as a prerequisite to sound economic development.

He prayed that the funeral of Mr Muntanga would be a reference point for uniting the country.

UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema led several party leaders at the burial of Mr Muntanga who was one of the founding leaders of the UPND.
Representatives from the Southern African Parliamentary Union, Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and a number of MPs from other countries were also in attendance.

Mr Hichilema who took time to address the mourners said the late Mr Muntanga will be sorely missed.

“We were also reminded of the need to seek God first as we seek national leadership. Even back in my days before politics Request was a good friend, giving me advice and wise counsel on my investments. In politics he will be remembered as a leader who never forgot the people he represented,” Mr Hichilema said.

“We have a lot to learn from Request’s resolve, dedication and support for the party since inception. As a party, we shall continue the struggle to realise the vision of a better Zambia in which Request so wholeheartedly believed.”

  1. I can only imagine if Hon. Muntanga was PF, the type of insults, mockery and abuse by UPND that was going to be seen here.

    Rest in peace Hon. Muntanga

    • Kindly challenge me otherwise. I still stand by comment with what has come from UPND after the death of leaders from other parties including levy mwanawasa and Sata. UPND cadre comments were indeed unpalatable. I mentioned this to show them that they never do that. I hope you look at my comment in that way, understand and support me.

  2. I WONDER all UPND are SDA? so this shows UPND is a tribal party also one religion that is SDA, REQUEST MUNTHANGA WHAT OF HIS EDUCATION BACKGROUND, WIVES ,CHILDREN, PROPERTY LEFT ETC WE NEED MORE DATA

    • Hey you are wrong. Do you know that SDA is a worldwide Church. Go to middle east, you find it. I am an Adventist and I travel a lot and I don’t suffer finding an SDA church anyway. Understand what SDA is and you will find rest for your soul.

  3. He died of stroke. His BP raised after being dribbled the adoption of Kalomo seat. HH killed him SO you must feel ashamed you maroons

  4. Lets respect each other you no need to be political here … MHSRIP . Go well Mr. Muntanga we will miss your courage and intelligence.

    • @shradreck, you can get an ignoramus out of the village but you cannot get the villager out of the ignoramus. You are a perfect example of such.

  5. Just contradictions: “..In politics he will be remembered as a leader who never forgot the people he represented”. So he was a good representative of the people? Why then didn’t you adopt him right at first and allow him to continue rather than what you did – to readopt him as an after thought after you had rejected him? Yes we need a bit of more data on Muntanga because he was and had been some one before becoming an MP. One thing we know is that at one time he was a Manager at Chishinga Ranch in Kawambwa,Luapula province but he must have done many other things that can be of encouragement to others!

  6. So Mr Lupando Mwape was there? I saw him in Luanshya in worn out Tropicals( Slippers) reading a Newspaper from a Newspaper Vendor . I wondered where i had seen this miserable looking man, then someone filled me in that this was the former Vice President , HE Lupando Mwape! Am sure he has now managed to buy some shoes! Politics of the Belly Reloaded

  7. UPND are the ones who killed Hon Muntanga cos he was a strong critic of HH’s under five politics.Hence his being not adopted which led to high BP.Now the senior kanchema wants to cheat people that the late was his best friend.
Zambians be careful with this liar who sold our companies on C/B ……today he wants to cheat that he will fix what he broke…..the devil indeed is a liar !

  8. Lupando is a finished politician now feeding HH’S animals in namwala to earn a living.Hence the yap yap !
If he is not careful,he will also be sacrificed for Kanchemas to get more votes in Northern province

  9. Mr Muntanga went to Canisius Secondary school (Canisius College then) with people like Wezi Kaunda. He trained at NRDC and had a formal job only for a short while before he settled on the land to practice what he trained for himself. He became a very successful farmer. I think he was MP for 15 years. Perhaps that, coupled with ill-health may explain why UPND was hesitant in adopting him. He was a very hard worker. A prolific fearless speaker and organizer. He was a fighter for what he believed in. MHSRIP.
